    • OK I've figured it out!!! I just needed to go into each individual DS/IT .mis file (I just used notepad, but it's in Mission Properties in Igor anyways) and change this little line: into this one: It seems so simple in the end! I'm flabbergasted that I didn't find out sooner but now I know. Heroes Unleashed basically got all of the missions to read from unlocked_heroes.xml from GR1, and made the d_ and c_ versions of unlockable DS/IT character atr. files the same as the GR1 files using <LOD>, <DesertLOD>, and <JungleLOD> within the file to change each character's appearance according to each campaign - which works out pretty well. Also, for Frostbite, the reason there are no specialists for FB campaign is that each of these missions are reading from fb_unlockedheroes.xml, of which entries are not being added to. To fix this, I just made a copy of unlocked_heroes.xml from GR1 and renamed it "fb_unlockedheroes.xml". So, in the end, I'm just gonna spend time doing the above change to each DS/IT mission (a copy of each, of course, in a different mod folder) and then go into each hero atr. file and throw in the <LOD>, <DesertLOD>, and <JungleLOD> stuff and connect it to all the DS/IT .chr and attachment files. I'm sure there's a couple ways to get what I want in an easier, streamlined fashion, but this is what is working for me right now. Anyways, all done! Shoutout to me I guess lol

    • OK here's an update, as I am learning as I go along... I have learned thru trial and error that it's NOT the .atr or .chr files at all that determine the list of specialists available. After stripping down Heroes Unleashed, I've narrowed it down to either the .mis or .gtf files, which are only editable thru Igor and which I'm working thru right now. I'll give more updates as I go along so that some future soul doesn't have to go thru what I did lol
    • Y'know how IT has only 6 specialists and DS has 5 out of a theoretical max of 12 like original GR1? Well, I'm trying to make a personal mod that adds characters from Sum of All Fears and maybe Frostbite into these slots for quick mission without overriding the original 6/5 (bear in mind, I'm pretty new to playing with atr./.chr files and modding in general) and, looking at how Heroes Unleashed did it in their .atr files/Igor, I'm just confused at the mechanics of how HU got all the original 12 specialists available in DS/IT and need some explanation. Once I learn how these guys were added, a lot of my problems are solved (like Frostbite not having their own new specialists in campaign). I've been comparing loads of .atr files and Igor all night, added some lines, took out some, made new folders in Actor and Character folders, added some files, took out some to mimic HU, still no success... Here's a sample .atr file I made to try to get Astra into DS as a simple test: I didn't add a new skin, just want to put a character, ANY character, into DS specialists list instead of being stuck with 5. I just made a copy of astra_galinsky.atr from origmiss and made it more like HU's file - didn't work. Here's HU's file for convenience: I tried copying and pasting HU's files and associated .chr - no good. Renamed LOADS of new files with _desert and _cuba at the end of them - nothing. Almost about to resort to stripping down a full copy of HU to just the specialist files and see what happens... I don't know what I'm doing wrong, so instead of wasting nights "learning" on my own thru trial/error and googling countless, long, archived posts that don't exactly clear things up for me, I think it's better to just ask seasoned pros for help. I'm hella thankful this forum is still active!   OK it's 4:25 in the morning here so goodnight and thank you in advance for any help! I'll get back to any response when I can. Love this site so far btw... my one regret is not being here sooner!
