Ubisoft Speak Out
Posted by Rocky on Thursday, December 30 2004

Ubisoft's CEO Yves Guillemot has spoken out regarding Electronic Art's recent acquisition of almost 20% of Ubisoft in an interview with Game Spot. During the interview Yves Guillemot confirms his view that the $85 million+ share purchase is a hostile move by one of their competitors, but also diplomatically adds ".... getting great games out there is a common goal".

These shares also give Electronic Arts a way in to the lucrative mobile games market as Ubisoft already have invested with Gameloft. Some of you might recall we were very impressed with Gameloft when we reviewed their Ghost Recon Jungle Storm for N-Gage QD here.

*UPDATE* CR6 has just linked us up to the very latest development....

"Ubi Soft Entertainment SA could receive government support in its fight against the threat of a takeover by US video games giant Electronic Arts"

This subject has stretched to four pages now in our forums, pick up the pace with this latest interview as posted by Zantar45 here.

Depending on what part of the world you are in, right now it's either already Christmas, or it's only a matter of hours away! Best wishes to every one of our visitors and forum members from all of the staff here at Ghost Recon.net. Here's hoping Santa brings you lots of goodies and perhaps one or two new games to tide you over, just until Ghost Recon 2 finally graces the PC in a few months time!

Have a safe, fun, and happy Christmas!

Forum Awards
Posted by Rocky on Thursday, December 16 2004

If you have not already taken a look at the upcoming Forum Awards section, now is the time to do it! We are at Nomination stage right now, which means you can nominate any forum member for an award in any of the many categories we have open. These nominations will then go forward for voting in the Award Polls next month.

In the General Forum Award section you can let us know which of our 25 forums you enjoy most, you can also nominate who you think should be considered for the most informative poster or most addictive poster.

In the Humorous Forum Awards there are 20 fun categories where you can make nominations for awards such as Best Name or Best Avatar, or even Poster With Most Typos.

Back to a more serious subject - modding. In the Modding Awards section there are a whopping 30 categories where you can nominate missions modders, campaigns, and weapons etc.

Of course you do not need to nominate in every category, if you have ever played a mod and enjoyed it - find a suitable category and post your nomination. This is your chance to say thanks to the communities extremely talented and hard working modders, don't pass it up, nominate someone, or something now!
