GR:JS Award
Posted by Rocky on Tuesday, January 25 2005

The mobile version of Ghost Recon Jungle Storm that appeared on the N-Gage impressed us so much we called it remarkable when we published our review in June last year.

Now, 7 months later it is still being heralded as something special on the mobile scene as it has just picked up Gamespot's Reader's Choice Award for N-Gage Game of the Year 2004. If you have an N-Gage it really is worth a look.

Wannabe GR
Posted by Rocky on Friday, January 21 2005

Wannabe.uk.com have produced a video they are calling "Training Day" that features two of their wannabe members out for a stroll in the woods. The reason I'm mentioning it is because you will all recognise the voices and sound effects used throughout the movie. It's just over 90Mb, right click and save as here.

The forum awards are now ready for your votes! There are numerous polls that you can take part in spread across the 3 categories; Humourous, Modding and General. You don't need to vote in them all, just dip in and take your pick! For your convenience there's a banner at the top of every forum page that'll take you to straight to the polls.

GR-Retreat are reporting that new developments in Ubisoft's shareholdings have seen it's value rise by almost 60% since the EA interest was announced! That's not all, it seems Vivendi are not interested too! What a little soap opera this is turning into.... forum discussion is now up to 6 pages and counting....

EA and Ubi
Posted by Rocky on Tuesday, January 4 2005

The Board of Directors at Ubisoft have issued the following statement through their corporate website.

"In light of recent news spread by the press, Ubisoft’s Board of Directors reiterates that, in the absence of information from the company Electronic Arts regarding its intentions, the latter’s acquisition of 19.9% of the group’s capital is unsolicited and currently considered as hostile. Moreover, it states that there are no negotiations between the two parties at present."

1/4 of a Million!
Posted by Rocky on Sunday, January 2 2005

It's a bit of a landmark occasion in our forums today, as we just passed the quarter of a million posts mark! That dubious honour goes to none other than long time forum member, GR.net Supporter and RAF 51 Squadron member ..... Mark Van Damme!

All those posts and over 7,000 members have signed up during the last 2 years almost to the exact day! In December 2002 we lost all our forum data and had to start from the beginning again with new forums installed by Super Bob. The first batch of posts were made here in the first week of January 2003, and now 2 years later to the week, Mark Van Damme made the 250,000th post right here!

I'd like to personally thank all the members and the forum moderators for making the forums such a great place to hang out, debate, and have a laugh - it's been an awesome 2 years! Here's to 2 more!
