IP-Name Mapper Posted by Rocky on Sunday, November 30 2003
Battalion Command have released their IP to Name Mapper tool that will assist with banning disruptive players even if they change names or have dynamic IP's. This will of course be of interest to anyone running a dedicated Ghost Recon server. Download the tool here, and check this discussion for details on the differences between registered and unregistered versions.

Thank You! Posted by Rocky on Thursday, November 27 2003
I wanted to say a huge thank you to everyone who took the time and effort to plan and contribute to a special Ghost Recon Community surprise for me on my Birthday yesterday. Little did I know that so many GhostRecon.net regulars and fans from across the community had been working away at a secret forum for many weeks, to organise a surprise visitor to hand deliver several gifts to me last night. It made it a very special day for me, and I'll always remember it. The Logitech steering wheel gift is fantastic, as are all the other gifts, like magnumKP's Rocky mp3 and Silentnight's Rocky powerpoint presentation , the custom Rocky mousemat from the guys at =UE= and even the custom car for Nascar racing from NYR. I understand there are also some military challenge coins on their way from the USA from zjj, and a package from Ubi Soft! To all those that were so generous and donated for a gift, I plan on upgrading my ageing graphics card for something with a lot more punch - who knows I might need it soon for Ghost Recon 2!! This truly is a gaming community like no other, thanks again to you all, Staff and fans alike, you are the best!

GR2 & Ubi Posted by Rocky on Wednesday, November 19 2003
There may be a hint of an official announcement regarding new Ghost Recon information at the Ubi Soft forums. It's not much, but it may signal an end to this extended period of no information and fan speculation, check it here.

RSE Expand Posted by Rocky on Tuesday, November 18 2003
Thanks to CR6 at GR-Retreat and Seojina for pointing out that the employee page at Red Storm Entertainment's website has grown somewhat recently. Around 4 new designers, 12 new artists and 9 new engineers appear to have been taken on recently. One of the new designers is Rafael Chandler, who funnily enough used to sing in a band named to suit our sister site Aggression. Rafael used to work in QA with Electronic Arts and joined RSE last month. So what does he think of Red Storm and his new colleagues... "Life at Red Storm is great. Dangerous, yes. Free doughnuts, free pizza, free soft drinks, free potato chips, free beer..... Another guy, he knows guns, inside and out. A shooter, a former soldier. I work with educated men, people who know things that matter. It's a great job."
Too right it's a great job! He's working with the team that gave us Ghost Recon and Rainbow Six... what's coming next we will just have to wait and see... not too long though hopefully!

nGage [updated] Posted by Rocky on Thursday, November 13 2003
Ghost Recon on Nokia nGage is coming, and you can help shape how it turns out. Gameloft are producing the title, and the game's Producer is looking for feedback for the Ghost Recon community. So, if you have an idea on what would transfer well to a bluetooth handheld gaming device - post your ideas in this discussion and you might very well see your suggestion incorporated in the final release version! The latest information from the developer is quite exciting. Whereas as some handheld versions bear little resemblance to the original PC game, Gameloft are aiming to produce a miniature, portable, multiplayer Ghost Recon! "Ghost is fully 3D rendered, with much of the effects you'd expect from a current FPS ... I think you'll be pleasantly surprised when the screenshots are released ... imagine Ghost Recon, ported ... for the original playstation, and then squished that down to fit on a smaller screen" Gameloft
Sounds very interesting, we look forward to publishing a definitive review when the game is released next year!

Task Force Dagger Posted by Rocky on Saturday, November 8 2003
Instead of publishing more mods today, I'm publishing a book review! It's not good to stay glued to your PC all night, so check this out and enjoy a good read! The book is Task Force Dagger : The Hunt for Bin Laden, which recounts the efforts of Special Forces deployed in Afghanistan 2 years ago in direct response to the 911 terrorist attack. I found it a very interesting read, find out why here.
