N-Gage Exclusive Posted by Rocky on Tuesday, June 29 2004
I've been lucky enough to play the upcoming release of Ghost Recon on the brand new Nokia N-Gage QD over the past few days. You can read my thoughts on this conversion in our World Exclusive review - the first review of this title anywhere.
"What you immediately notice about this conversion, is that it is unlike some other high profile pocket conversions in that it actually is a conversion and not an entirely different game, sharing only the same title as it's big brother PC counterpart. Splinter Cell suffered that fate, morphing from a 3d-stealth title to a Rayman type platformer - a totally different game altogether. GR:JS on the Ngage QD however is very much it's big brother's little brother, definitely from the same gene pool."

GR on Far Cry *updated* Posted by Rocky on Thursday, June 17 2004
Check this out - Ghost Recon maps are being modded into Far Cry! The first one is by Soroc (TeamBSR.com) is available now and just looking at the screenshots - looks amazing. "I can honestly say this is the best map I've ever played in any game. I was part of the testing, and it's the most fun I've ever had in any online FPS. " JaymzRR
Check the images and grab the download here (New V1.7!) (assuming you have Far Cry!) and join in the mods discussion in our forums here. Ruggbutt has just dropped us a line to say that he plans on extending this popular project... "We’re doing a mod for FC that incorporates the best stuff from GR and the best from FC. No respawns, the limp, random inserts and new player models"
Sounds more than a little interesting, Far Cry owners could have a real treat on their hands soon!

Dynacomp Help Posted by Rocky on Wednesday, June 16 2004
One of the most exciting and groundbreaking Ghost Recon mods ever hangs in the balance this month. With a massive amount of work behind this mod already, the Dynacomp team find that resources have dropped off to a point where the mods completion is in danger. This would be a real shame as Dynacomp is inovative and huge. So if you are either a scripter of a mapper, please get in touch with Parabellum. You can do so either here in our forums, or at his website here.

Hoak's HUD Posted by Rocky on Wednesday, June 16 2004
Hoak has pulled off a total revamp for the Ghost Recon HUD. It's only a few KBs in size, and you can find screenshots of the simplified HUD in the forums here."I was fed up with the clunky, obtrusive and overly 'artsy' Ghost Recon HUD. For realism gaming I prefer minimalistic HUD designs that strip off all excess artistic foo-foo and that convey information with the least obstruction of screen real-estate -- in as clear yet unobtrusive a manner as possible."
The download is currently at Ghostaholic.
