Golden Triangle Winners >>(Links Fixed)<<
Posted by Rocky on Wednesday, August 29 2007

Lightspeed's Golden Triangle Ghost Recon 1 co-op tournament has come to a close, and the winners are.... the unstoppable Alpha Squad! Not only did they win, but they did it in style, completing each of the seven missions with full points! Congratulations to the other teams for their sporting contribution to the tournament. You can see all the final standings here, and the official forum for further reading can be found here.

The missions that Lightspeed crafted for the tournament were awesome, and we'd encourage everyone to give them a try. We've created a pack of all the missions including text file briefings, and a list of all the mods you'll require to play. Download Golden Triangle here. Once you've tried the missions, you can also watch and learn from Alpha Squad's example, as we have prepared a mission replay download pack, grab that here.

Finally, huge thanks to Lightspeed for a spectacular set of fun but tricky missions.

Custom Campaign Feature
Posted by Rocky on Tuesday, August 28 2007

Rpghard has discovered that GRAW 2 has support for custom campaigns! This feature is described in Wolfsong's modding tutorials, but rpghard is the first to implement it. With a custom campaign installed, a new option appears at the top right of the screen in Campaign mode that allows the user to scroll through all the available installed campaigns.

Now fans can enjoy custom campaigns complete with the ability to quick save, and modders can include custom intro's for their new campaigns.

Rpghard has already started his own custom campaign, so download Operation Storm and try this new feature out!

Ubisoft Partner With Microsoft
Posted by Rocky on Sunday, August 26 2007

It's an alliance that may surprise PC gamers critical of Ubisoft's apparent lack of dedication to the PC platform, but it's true; Ubisoft have joined forces with Microsoft to publish games under the "Games for Windows" brand. What does this mean? It means that Ubisoft is committed to publishing exclusive PC titles such as Far Cry 2, and also PC versions of each of its console titles. More at CNN.

Mission Storm
Posted by Rocky on Wednesday, August 22 2007

Rpghard, arguably the most prolific GRAW 1 mission modder, has just released his first mission for GRAW 2, and the good news is this is the first in a series.

Each mission will be a remake of a campaign mission, but with more enemies, and possibly different time settings. The first release therefore is Mission Storm, which is a more difficult night time version of the first campaign mission in GRAW 2.

You can download it right now here, and leave feedback in the forums here.

Christian "Serellan" Allen Moves On!
Posted by Rocky on Wednesday, August 15 2007

In a statement to the Ghost Recon community Christian "Serellan" Allen has announced his departure from Red Storm Entertainment and Ubisoft to join Bungie Studios.

Christian Allen

Serellan's rise from the "Roosters Nest" bedroom modder to Creative Director with RSE, and now Design Lead with Bungie has been remarkable, but well deserved. Always active in the community Serellan on occasion supplied competition prizes for fans and was interviewed three times by GhostRecon.net, once in September 2004, again in May 2005, then once in the RSE NC design studios. GR-Retreat also interviewed Serellan here. Anchorage Daily News also scored a really good interview covering Serellan's rise through the ranks, you can read that here.

One of the highlights must have been collecting the BAFTA last October for Game of the Year, you can watch that on youtube here.

On behalf of everyone at GhostRecon.net I'd like to thank Serellan for his dedication over the past 5 years, which has clearly gone above and beyond, and is very much appreciated by all.

Please add your best wishes for Serellan in this forum discussion.
