GR2 PC Release Date
Posted by Rocky on Saturday, February 26 2005

We are almost into March with no official release date for Ghost Recon 2 PC, which has left many of us wondering just how long Ubisoft will keep us waiting. Our friends over at Ghost Recon -Spain decided to do a little research on the only information that is in the public domain - online store release dates. Here's a summary of their investigation grouped and then ordered.

Mid March - Gamespy.com, IGN and gameplanetstore
Late March - Amazon.co.uk, Play and Gameseek
Early April - Amazon.com, Meristattion
Early June - Pc.gamezone
Mid June - EBGames, Gamespot, Gameplanet, Walmart and 1up.com

It goes without saying that for all we know everyone of those dates is pure speculation, but who do you think had got it right? Place a vote for who you trust to be right about the release date in this new poll!

Castle Complete
Posted by Rocky on Sunday, February 20 2005

Here's a quality movie from Ben showing how to complete the Castle firefight in under 4 minutes. It's a quality package for several reasons, not least the skills that Ben displays in decimating the enemy forces with such speed and accuracy. Aside from that the package also includes a readme detailing all the movies specifications, and it also contains the replay file so you can also play it back through Ghost Recon. There's also a few outtakes at the end of the movie. Considering the movie was recorded on a PC with only a 36Gb hard drive, this was quite an achievement in more ways than one!

The movie size is 150Mb, but it's worth it because the quality is so good you can watch it full screen even on a large monitor and it looks great. Download the movie here and leave feedback for Ben in the forums here.

The results of the GhostRecon.net 2004 Forum Awards are in! Thanks to everybody who took the time to place their votes, and congratulations to all the winners, and everyone who was nominated. The results have been collated in this forum where the modding awards, general awards and humourous award winners are all listed.

Modding highlights include White Skull Valley as Best Mod, War Of Infamy and Operation Stabilize which both pulled in 2 awards each, and Bajabravo won 3 awards for his fantastic work on skin mods. Also congratulations to RSi Deleyt who deservedly won several awards for his quality work. It was also good to see recognition for Sixpence who has consistently and regularly been turning out new Ghost Recon mods for fans to enjoy. Many more mods and modders were recognised for their efforts, check them all out here.

It was a mammoth task organising the awards this year, well done and thanks go to the awards team of zjj, Stalker, NYR and GiWeDa for their all hard work.

Viper-6 has completed a new 5 mission pack for Ghost Recon (requires DS and IT). Each mission is a hostage rescue scenario, with the emphasis on real world special forces tactics. The missions are not overly long winded, rather short and sharp!
