RS Chalet Friday June 28 | Rocky
One of my personal favourites from Rogue Spear, is the Chalet map, now we can all enjoy it, in enhanced Ghost Recon style thanks to Ken the Judge at GhostRecon.ss.mu.

It really is a beautiful map, and it is obviously more than just a conversion, it is  an enhancement. Although it's still in Beta, I played it fine in multiplayer and it looked fantastic. I thought Low Profile summed it well when he mailed me...

"Looks so good so far one might wonder if it was in inside job and RSE is giving us a new chalet for GR"

Grab this terrific map from the news page here and also have a look for a modded Kill House Double map! Leave comment here in our forums where Suicide Commando broke the news.

RS Castle Friday June 28 | Rocky
Remember the Castle map from Rogue Spear? Well, look again - that is a Ghost Recon map! Master mapper Low Profile is going mad this month with news of yet another map conversion for Ghost Recon. Rogue Spear Castle was a great map and I can't wait to get the Ghosts in there! Post encouragement for Low Profile in our forums here (as if he needs it).

KillHouse Revisited Friday June 28 | Rocky
Low Profile is working on the original Kill House Double map from RSE, and tweaking it into what is shaping up to be a classic Ghost Recon map. You can check his progress here, and leave feedback or suggestions in our Forums here.

GR Bunkers Monday June 24 | Rocky
Hardly a week goes by that someone doesn't ask about Mike Schell's Bunkers map. Mike started work on a new Bunkers map for Ghost Recon before any new maps had even been released. Now we have several cool new maps, and still no bunkers! Well, good news at last! Mike has committed himself to completing the mod, and has posted a new series of images to prove it. 60FPS Cap Fixed *updated* Saturday June 22 | Rocky
If you find Ghost Recon seems capped at 60FPS and refuses to run higher, you might want to try NVRefresh, which reached v1.0 a few weeks ago.

We have updated our FAQ with details of this new tool, as the old fix we used to list was not entirely satisfactory. NVRefresh works, and not just for Ghost Recon, for all your games!

*Update* If you are having the same problem, but with a card other then Nvidia, try RefreshLock, a cool tool that works with all graphics cards, thanks Kev!

If you are looking for a professional tool that does all this and much much more, Dragon mailed us with this recommendation for PowerStrip.

"Powerstrip is fantastic: one can actually define different refresh-settings for different games/apps."

You can download Powerstrip here.

In the News! Friday June 21 | XianSaint
Couple things of interest in the news today. First off, Daywanderer using his l33t German Knowledge provided some clarification about the T-Shirt offer. Here is what Day had to say,

"Ihr könnt von Ghost Recon einfach nicht genug kriegen? Dann schickt mir den Beweis!
Macht ein Foto von Euch und Eurem Ghost Recon / Desert Siege Spiel und gewinnt eines von 3 exklusiven T-Shirts welche nur bei uns erhältlich sind!"

"Simply can't get enough of Ghost Recon? Then send me the proof!  Take a photograph of yourself and your Ghost Recon/Desert Siege games and win one of three exclusive T-shirts that only we have!"

And, the other item...the official Ghost Recon site has another poll (you know me and reporting the polls) asking why you play Ghost Recon. Some interesting results. Check it out here.

Official Mods Tutorial Friday June 21 | Rocky
Yeh, the real deal guys. Pr3dator just pointed me to this post at the official forums.

"Joseph Drust, Red Storm artist, and friend to modders everywhere, has created a tutorial webpage to help modders wanting to create characters for Ghost Recon."

You can check that webpage out right here. The tutorials detail how to import characters, weapons and attachments into Ghost Recon and has around 100 images! There is even a FAQ and a help form. Christmas just came early for the modders, make sure you say a big thanks to Ubi Soft and Joseph when you visit.

Now before you go and get excited, this information comes from the official www.ghostrecon.de site and must be translated, or if you can read it, then thats just as well. I'm sure this location may only apply to some...but if thats you...then congratulations. The next item, the cool one, is for a chance to win a very limited and cool Ghost Recon T-Shirt. The translation is a little sketchy, but I know I'm going to try and find out more about it. This contest ends July 3rd. New Special Ops Campaign Tuesday June 18 | Rocky
GRT1 Mod v3 for Desert Siege comes from The Ghost Rangers and features 16 new missions aimed at promting team play and tactics, not "run and gun". Apparantly the intel reports and briefings are taken from real dutch special forces missions, which adds a nice touch of realism. Grab GRT1 here.

TSOAF UK Advance Screening Monday June 17 | Rocky
Ubi Soft invited us to attend an advance screening of  The Sum Of All Fears in London tonight, and our man Joe Schmoe came back with some amazing gossip! Ghost Recon could get an second expansion pack before Christmas. After the huge success of Desert Siege, a second expansion for "Game of the Year" Ghost Recon was always on the cards, and although we didn't get an official announcement, we got a definite vibe that some news is not far off.

Back on The Sum Of All Fears, Joe reports that the film was superb, and well recieved, not surprising as it recently knocked Star Wars off the top of the US Box Office. The games release in the UK is slated for August with a price tag of £20. Game cube and PS2 version will follow.

Joe also managed to squeeze some interesting information about Raven Shield from Ubi Soft, including their opinion on the current debate about Raven Shield on MSN Zone, the manual, and world release schedules. For details on those visit our Rainbow Six site AGR-S.com.

The mission competition has come to an end and the judging has commenced. The turn out was a little higher than expected, with approximately 25 participants, however, in the end only 8 submissions were received. Although that might seem a little disappointing, the initial review of some of the missions offered a bit of hope, as some of them were quite entertaining. Expect a list of the winners soon and the mods to be available in the download section.

Shallow Creek Tuesday June 04 | Rocky
Me and Storm just had a quick run around a new map - Shallow Creek, from XCal -  it's going to be great for multiplayer battles.

In the second image Storm shows off some the cover afforded by some fallen trees, and there are plenty of other opportunities to find some good cover amongst all the undergrowth, bushes, huts, and of course the creek.

Airborne Rangers 1968 Tuesday June 04 | XianSaint
talkinBEERmug is currently hard at work and looking for help on his mod, Airborne Rangers 1968.  This mod takes place during the middle of the Viet Nam conflict and suggests some intense combat. Is this a Hint? Saturday June 01 | XianSaint
The official Ghost Recon site has a new poll up that is asking what  feature would you like to see included in the game. Is this a hint of an upcoming addition - maybe in a patch or possibly expansion pack or sequel? I wonder...Anyway, the choices range from a Jump Key, Riding/Controlling Vehicles (which currently is way out front), Melee Combat, and Playable Third-Person Mode. Who knows, maybe the Dev Team is just trying to spark our curiousity, but check it out here.
