GR2 Banned Posted by Rocky on Thursday, November 25 2004
If you are already enjoying Ghost Recon 2 thank your lucky stars you don't live in South Korea, as the game has just been banned there. It's hardly surprising however, because there were rumbles of discontent from that direction way back when Ghost Recon 2 first aired at E3. Read all the details at Gamespot, and comment here. |

Take Back Posted by Rocky on Wednesday, November 24 2004
Here's a new mission from Eternal that's worth a look - Operation Take Back. The mission will be very tricky solo, so if you have a few clan mates hanging around, get these missions on a server and try them out as a team. Eternal has put alot of work into this script, so please drop by this thread and leave him some feedback - he might even finish the full campaign if you do! |

Ghost Recon 2 Out! Posted by Rocky on Wednesday, November 17 2004
As promised Ubi Soft has released Ghost Recon 2 today in the US, 2 weeks ahead of schedule. It's a landmark occasion, and one we thought for a while might never appear. It was back in April 2003 when we first started speculating about a sequel to Ghost Recon. In that article Jester and zjj were the first to provide solid information on Ghost Recon 2 gleamed from a Ubi Soft financial report. That find was soon picked up by the main stream gaming media and the hunt for more information started in earnest. 19 months later - and console players all over the US are getting to grips with Ghost Recon 2 XBox, and by all accounts it is a more than worthy successor - so hats off to Red Storm who have done it again!
Fans who have already got their hands on Ghost Recon 2 have managed to peel themselves away for a few moments to post feedback in our forums, join in and let us know what you think. What are your favourite parts, and what surprised you most about the game?

Baby Dave is just back from Ubi Soft's latest Ghost Recon 2 event in London and has put his thoughts down in this post!
"in the 3 or 4 hours i played it was intense and i dare say more realistic. At no point did i think it was over the top, or arcadey. Was just about right. "
"Overall I was very pleased, bearing in mind I was one of the most skeptical and vocal members on the official forums up until a couple of months ago, im glad RSE have proved me wrong, this game is worth waiting for!"

Global Ops Posted by Rocky on Sunday, November 14 2004
It's a double whammy of mods at GhostRecon.net today as we follow up on the fantastic 7.62 weapon mod with this brand new mission campaign called Global Ops.
"This is a campaign mod that takes place at different parts of the globe. Missions a slightly harder then stock GR missions, but not too hard. Emphasizes is on realistic battlefield situation, and logical enemy moves instead of creating non-realistic scenario just to implement some weird game 'gotcha' situation"
If this campaign gets good feedback the author plans on making a sequel - but in Ghost Recon 2! DG tried to make these missions, very dynamic and intensive with action. They are partly inspired by'Blackhawk down' movie and mods 'Africa burning' and 'Operation Snake Strike'. Enjoy! Please use the forums to let DG know what you thought.

Ubi Soft Sued Posted by Rocky on Thursday, November 4 2004
Along with 11 other top game companies, Ghost Recon's publisher Ubi Soft is reported to be on the wrong end of a seemingly bizarre legal action from law firm McKool Smith. The main thrust of the case is as follows...
"McKool Smith contends that these 12 companies infringed on their patent, "Method and Apparatus for Spherical Planning," or patent 4,734,690. The patent was originally filed in March 1988 for a specific method of displaying 3-D images on a monitor. "

Ghost Recon 2 Gamespot Posted by Rocky on Tuesday, November 2 2004
Gamespot have just published a new feature on Ghost Recon 2. It starts by explaining the differences between the XBox and PS2 versions, before covering new features like the differing viewpoints. It does have one curious statement that I'm sure will be the start of renewed PC discussion amongst fans;
"...Red Storm's Ghost Recon 2 is only coming to the Xbox"
It's probably just poor wording so we should really focus more on the positive points the article makes, such as the impressive cinematic feel the game is afforded by the new visuals, enhanced by some great lighting effects.
There's also 16 brand new images which show the very latest (i.e. final) character models.
Read the full Gamespot Preview here, and comment in our forums here.
