There are actually two maps, as a retextured winter Ghost Recon map is also included. Of course it's the bunkers map that is of interest, and it too has a winter setting. Although Drunk Bob says this was not meant to be an exact copy of the Rogue Spear map, it is very similar - and great fun! Maybe it's the addition of a chaingun, or the new sniper zoom effect or the stiff opposition, but this is a cool new map to play on, grab it now. This is only the start of a larger project that Drunk Bob and the XRW clan are putting together, stay tuned for more on the full mod later, and visit Drunk Bob at his website.

The advert features a UH-1 Huey in a rather grisly scene which also see mortars, guns and plenty of explosives. What's so exciting about this advert is that it's directed by Luke Scott, son of Ridley Scott, director of Black Hawk Down. If you see this advert be sure to let us know! Mac gamers can even tap into the huge Mod archive that Ghost Recon now boasts, with one caveat, only zipped mods will install. Executable mods will not install on the Mac, so if Ghost Recon modders wish to open up a whole new audience to their work, they might want to repackage their mods in zip format and let Aspyr Media know by mailing them here.

Ubi Soft has announced that Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon for the Xbox has gone gold. The tactical shooter originally appeared on the PC last year, and will support Microsoft's Xbox Live online gaming service. According to Ubi Soft vice president of marketing Tony Kee, "Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon will rock console gaming to its core. Ghost Recon showcases Xbox Live by creating a very realistic game play experience. Gamers can talk to one another and plan out strategies or develop maneuvers using the Xbox Communicator...

So, what does that mean? Well it means you get over 30 new Rifleman kits, over 50 new Sniper kits, almost 40 new Support kits and over 40 new Demo kits! There are 12 new custom specialists, and new Stealth, Desert and MARPAT camos. And of course there are a number of cracking new weapons including the SR25, SR25SD, MM1 GL and the M240 NVG.

As of this weekend the Mod was released in Beta form to selected parties, so expect to see more news images of this promising new mod around the community soon.

We were lucky enough to play the Medics Down mission by Pyro Monty weeks ago, and it's a blast whether it's played online or solo. Now with the new weapons and camo it is really coming together, and we can't wait until they put together a full campaign of SAS missions. Expect to see the public final release before Christmas!
