saw a great discovery channel thing on the new camo that was rush produced prior to the first gulf war. it uses pixelized images where up close it looks like a cheap old school computer graphic but from far away, it blurs out and really does well to break outlines. they got it in desert, woodland and urban. sweeeeeet stuff.
anyone got good image samplings of this camo? i got the desert and woodland ones but theyre tiny 150x150 sized images.

Ronin,
There is a link in the "US ARMY LOOKING TO CHANGE BDU " topic that takes you to US ARMY Times that has some of the same patterns but I am not sure of the size.
I like the new Camo! I saw a History channel program about the new Marine's camo pattern and it works well.

Yeah Ronin, where have you been? LOL j/k.
Its called MARPAT the new U.S. marine corp pattern. And I love it!
With the tan suede boots the look is great. Now if they only had the sense to incorporate mini-modular body armor standard to all uniforms.
hmmmmmmmm

LOL Fusaki, yea CADPAT is the original and most effective camo out there, but Canada copyrighted the pattern, so althought the new USMC camo looks similar is not an exact replica of the CADPAT, so if you want to look at it there are CADPAT (canadian) and MARPAT (marines).

------------
oh and i remember the show giving a little bit of trivia by saying that every 18 inches (?) or so, there is a tiny usmc seal.

The show on the History Channel is Mail Call. Hosted by R. Lee Ermy, a former real life Marine Drill Sgt. and best known as the Drill Sgt. on Full Metal Jacket for most of us. Check out http://www.rleeermey.com/ for some laughs and more info on the show and him. I think he's great and the show is excellent even though I'm not a super huge military buff (son of one though)

How come that you isnīt a fan of the military then...
I remember my childhood when the NCO pay was so low that we couldnīt afford daycare and thus I had to go with my old man to work
You just canīt predict what that does to a child..

I'm not trying to be pro-American here but I must say that our marpat is a nicer pattern than the cadpat. Even though I like cadpat, I like the colors on the marpat better. I just don't agree with that neon green color on the cadpat. But at least from examples I have seen I can see the great effectiveness of the cadpat pattern in field tests.
But I just like the marpat better.
I wonder what the U.S. army will come up with......

MARPAT:

CADPAT:

Stalker_Zero might have been confused with this stuff:

the above is really weird. in the CF website they say that this is CADPAT, but its obviously not. (this page) i've seen CADPAT up close and i know its the dark green stuff, not this florecent green ugliness.

Sorry Fusaki that is not marpat. You got cadpat right but not marpat.
What you showed in the top pic is the U.S. army's attempt to copy marpat. And they probably won't even use that pattern in their final choice to upgrade their uniform. Here is the U.S. Marine corps' marpat. And I think its the best pattern.

i'll take your word for it, but its strange that on the Army Times Website they refer to that camo as Woodland (Marine).

while double checking i came across an interesting article... apparently there's Maple Leaves hidden throughout CADPAT and the Globe and Anchor hidden throughout MARPAT. honestly... i just can't see it myself... can you?
