You do not have to post specific amounts, but a general amount.

Interesting statistics so far. With 6 real votes so far, quite a bit of money has been spent.

Think about it, I bought a MachV at $3700+ and then a short time later installed a new HD at $200 and bought a new monitor at around $250. If you toss in the other stuff I already had like a speaker system, mouse, keyboard and mousemat then I have spend close to $5000 easily.

$5000 is a year of college tuition at a good in-state school in most of the US :P

I love videogames, and a high end computer helps me for school/future career, but my current pc is around 400 dollars off and on and my total expenses over the last 6 years is no greater than 1.5k. It's a great hobby and it's worth spending money on but i don't see it being worth sacrificing other things in life. I would have a hell of a lot less ability to pursue hobbies like boxing and jiujitsu or to cover transportation costs and school if i dumped that kind of money on PCs -- but i'm young, and dont have a lot of income atm.

I absolutely dread to think how much i've spent on the upgrade trail since I got my first pc (386sx25) so i'll try not to, I could probably have got a really nice car instead of all those redundant boxes

What I find surprising is that someone here has shelled out >$5000 on vid games!
