For a while now, we've been debating the future of the PC as a gaming platform and the fact that from an industry perspective, PC gaming is on the decline. Already, multiplatform titles are being released on anything from the PS3 to the DS, but not on PC. Burying the PC entirely as a gaming platform is a bit premature.

But it will be different:

"PC Gaming As We Know It Is Dead", Gamasutra.com

"As we know it" is the keyword here. There will undoubtedly be fewer blockbuster titles for the PC in the future, but there will be plenty of games. And independent developers in particular might get a little more room to manoeuver as industry leaders turn their attention to consoles.

"Nine Paths To Indie Game Greatness", Gamasutra.com

In fact, I suspect we might even see more PC titles of the kind that would never fly as a big multiplatform release. The future of the PC as a gaming platform may not be dark, just different.
