game crashes

Recommended Posts

I have reached the last stand. I keep trying to cross the bridge, but game keeps crashing in the middle of the bridge. This is the second disc I have used. I returned the first one thinking it was bad. first disk had a F5 save. the second disk has a K save. ###### ?? I have a core 2 2.14, Asus p5ne sli, nvida 7600gs 512 ,1 gig ram. This is the only game that I have a problem with. I have been stuck on that dam bridge since 10/24. The K save is the only reason I made it that far. I crashed at least 100 times to get there, and thats no lie. I did everything from patches to update new drivers. I have tried every video setting in options. All the help forums I have been to are reporting the same problems with the crashes that I have. I am so close to beating this game . If ubisoft really cares about us gamers, They would find a fix. I paid $50.00 for a case of hearburn, It's not fair. If anyone has a fix please help. grin should have tested this game better. :wall:

A common cause of crashing as much as you have is the frames-to-render-ahead setting for your vid card driver. Many people have cured the crashes by reducing this option from 3, to 1 or 2.

Your drivers control panel may not display this option and you may need a driver utility like nhancer or rivatuner. There are several discussions in the forum about the "render frames ahead" issue.

Doubletap your one smart dude. I installed nhancer. With a little searching I found render and set it to 1 and applied it to graw2. I keep getting killed but the game does not crash. I made it to the other side of the bridge , Alot of bad guys there. Give yourself a big pat on the back from me. Hopefully I will beat this game soon. This fix should be under important topics.

Thanks again

Ps. Keep up the good work

Sorry I didn't give you this link before, I had forgotten I even posted this:

Nhancer info

any profile with a Prerender setting which varies from the default driver setting will be required to be manually activated (it's quite simple really).

Doubletap I have to thank you again, I beat the game without any crashes. It was a pleasure making big progress without worring if the game was going to crash before the next save. I will try to pass this fix on to other gamers who are having the same problem.

DoubleTap:

Is there an equivalent setting for a ATI Radeon video card? It's not called "frames to render Ahead" in ATI lingo...

And I really believe this will help me because the game completely freezes my whole PC, not just Windows. I have to reboot the PC and it happens when I'm running, anytime I'm running, whether it's been 2 minutes of play or half an hour. Since the graphics have to render so fast, I think it gets overcome and just crashes. :wall:

Thanks, Dannik, I'll give it a try. But this freakin thing crashes two minutes into play EVERY TIME! I've done everything I know to do-updated drivers, lowered settings, you name it. And this is a brand new gaming rig, AMD Athlon 64x2 3.0Ghz, MSI K9A2 Platimun board, Diamond Radeon HD3870 Vid card with 2GB Crutial RAM. This damn rig should not be crashing like this in this game! Any other help resources you can think of and point me to would be greatly appreciated.

Gpu is overheating... install ATItool and check its Idle temp, run the 3d part of it for 5 minutes, and then read the temp then, thats the load temp..

Idle temp = the temperature your GPU gets to when not in use.

Load temp = the temperature your GPU gets to when its under load, E.G. you're playing a game.

you need might to clean the gpu's heatsink/fan and replace the thermal compound on the chipset, i lowerd temps by 15 oC just by cleaning dust off and replacing the TC.

Dudbomb:

Can you be more specific on your instructions? When you say install ATI Tool, what do you mean? Is this an app I can download, and if so, where do I get it? I have the app ATI Tray Tools but I can't find anything in it that gives me control of monitoring the GPU temp. My gaming rig is only a month old so I can't believe it would be dusty already. As far as I can tell, the GPU fan is running well, but if I can get it off of the card processor, I'll reapply new thermal compound and see if that works. Thanks for any more help you can give me.

^My 0.2%

I would really think twice about playing around with your GPU (and voiding its warranty in the process) until you find out exactly what your problem is. It would be a shame to screw up your card when it turns out that it was a driver issue or something easily tweaked.
