Straight from the readme of the mod: RTS mod version 0.9 by tsactuo (tsactuo@gmail.com) Note: This mod is much more enjoyable when played with the NRD mod. NRD mod (no red diamonds) when activated never shows the enemies on the command map, so you have to rely on your real view to find and kill enemies. The NRD mod is included in the package as a separate mod. What is RTS mod? RTS (Random Terrorist Spawn) is a continuation of my "Replayability" mod. This mod makes terrorists to spawn in completely random locations. In the standard GR Firefight/Recon the enemies spawned in 36 predefined locations. Those locations (map points) are no longer used. The spawn points are now infinite (in all the GR-DS-IT maps only). Along with the random spawn feature, RTS mod now offers new gametypes. These gametypes are: Terrorist Hunt RTS: Like firefight, your mission objective is to eliminate all enemies. Number of enemies depends on the difficulty and also has some randomness on it. Your team starts in the standard insertion zone of each map. (You can play this with Threat Indicator on or off) Terrorist Hunt Solo RTS: Eliminate all enemies but, this gametype is playable only with one soldier active in the platoon screen. If you select more than one, there will be mission failure from the start. Your spawn location now is completely random, so your soldier starts anywhere on the map, maybe even next to an enemy. To overcome this, you are invisible and all enemies invincible for the first 15 seconds, so you can have time to hide. (You can play this with Threat Indicator on or off) Recon RTS: Standard recon gametype. The only difference the random located terrorists. Get to the extraction zone shown on the command map with the whole team alive. Number of enemies depends on the difficulty and also has some randomness on it. Your team starts in the standard insertion zone of each map (You can play this with Threat Indicator on or off) Assassination RTS: Your objective is to kill the drug dealer (a guy with OICW and different appearance also randomly spawned on the map) and then get to the extraction zone shown on the command map. The threat indicator shows the location of the drug dealer, but ignores all the other enemies on the map. After you kill the Drug Dealer the TI will no longer work until you reach your extraction zone. Number of enemies depends on the difficulty and also has some randomness on it. Your team starts in the standard insertion zone of each map (You better play this with Threat Indicator on). Hostage Rescue RTS: A hostage is randomly spawned on the map. You mission is to rescue her to the extraction zone, which by the way is random. So look at your command map to find where your Extraction Zone is. Number of enemies depends on the difficulty and also has some randomness on it. Your team starts in the standard insertion zone of each map. (You can play this with Threat Indicator on or off). If you have NRD activated you will have to search the map for the hostage. If you have it deactivated the command map will have her visible right from the start. (Because of a bug in the game, while escorted, enemies will not shot the hostage but only you and your team) Note that the recruit difficulty is already challenging enough in all gametypes. Don't go right away for elite. Installation: Unzip the rts-v09.zip in your Ghost Recon/Mods folder. If the 2 folders appear there (RTS and NRD) you are done. Always give highest priority to the RTS mod. For the NRD it doesn’t matter, it just has to be activated. Uninstallation: Delete the RTS and NRD folders located in the Ghost Recon/Mods folder. Requirements: Ghost Recon patched to version 1.4 Same system requirements as original GR. However if you play on Elite Difficulty 1.5Ghz+ CPU recommended for your system to handle the ~100 terrorists. Desert Siege and Island Thunder are optional. Random spawning works there. If you use third party maps the gametypes will work but the spawning will not be random. What remains to be done for version 1.0? Make gametypes available in multiplayer (they are Single Player only now) Maybe create some more gametypes. Add some background images for main menu. At least you should know you have my mod activated from there Fix bugs or make changes that you report at tsactuo@gmail.com J Known bugs/problems Few maps don't like the random spawn idea. So maps like plantation, may spawn enemies outside of the playable area. (specifically at the helicopter insertion area of the mission campaign intro). The maps I have found to be affected are: Creekbed (may spawn outside map, they can be killed though) Plantation (may spawn in the heli intro area) Wilderness (may spawn around the map behind the wooden walls) Embassy (little chance to spawn just behind the standard insertion zone. You can kill them though, even if you can't go there. There are some workarounds for those spawning problems and I am trying to fix them. VERSION HISTORY version 0.9 First public release I will release next version in the next days, adding 1 new gametype, and some other additions. I will post here when 0.91 gets released. Also if you find any bug or you need to send me some suggestions, post them here in that topic, or you can send them via email at tsactuo@gmail.com This post has been edited by tsactuo: Jul 27 2006, 05:30 PM |

New version 0.91 released. As always download at http://tsactuo.googlepages.com/rts
Changes include: version 0.91 New Gametype: Stealth Solo RTS. You must reach the extraction zone unseen. If any terrorist has a clear view of your soldier, they trigger the alarm and you instantly lose. You can kill as many as you want, as long as they don’t see you. You better play with silenced weapons and on recruit difficulty (for fewer enemies). Always do headshots so they don’t have time to react (their head In both Terrorist Hunt gametypes, you are now informed on the remaining terrorist number each 2 minutes with a text message. Drug Dealer in Assassination Mode now uses Warlord model and when assassinated he really screams painfully. New Separate Mod in the backage: NTI (No Threat Indicator). This is made to accompany the NRD mod for realism fans. This completely disables Threat Indicator (whether you have the TI on or off in the options panel). Since the central area of the TI is not used, it has been replaced with a gun image to indicate gunshots sound direction. Added Main Menu background for the RTS mod. Because of the Warlord model use, Desert Siege activation is required for the Assassination Gametype to work. Stronghold, Farm Day, Creekbed, Wilderness, Polling Center and Market Maps can now use all of OGR Specialists, since they are not on Desert/Island environment. Just to inform you, Version 0.92 is coming soon and will feature a lot improved enemy AI in all gametypes. That will be done by adding Team patrols and not only individual patrols. So better and more realistic reactions. Also some more changes/additions will be in that version. I will publish them all at the release.
Don't forget to post here your suggestions/feedback on the mod. |
