IIRC the germans made an adaption kit for the Mp44 that had a bent barrell extention that slowly curved round through 45 degrees

Well, and the ruskies made an Kalashnikov with a barrel bent downwards to be fired while in cover in the foxhole...

Don't know how it was supposed to be used while advancing, but...

This is all togheter a brand new idea.

i know that asutralia has been developing a camera that is fitted onto an F88 Aus Steyr, and a special pair of googles with a screen fitted to the camera, you just point the gun around the corner, and have a look see...

Thats exactly what I was thinking.

I can see how it would be good with a Glock that had a +20 Hi Cap Mag but not a regular +10 mag.
It could be cheaper to put a fiber optic mini camrea on the slide and have it hooked up to a hand held camcorder.
As long as it serves its duty, (kicking crimminal scums ass) its fine with me. :D

I remember seeing a pic somewhere of the bent barrel Kalashnikov varient.
IIRC it was made to be a tank gun to shoot enemy soldiers if they ever got up near the sides of the tank. It was so that none of the tank crew members had to poke out their noggin and get it popped.

they could alter it so it could fit a sub machine gun or machine pistol, like an UZI or Mac 10, that would be better

the problem with curved barrel weapons is that they need to vent alot of propellent gas out of the outside edge of the curved part, otherwise the bullet will punch right through the barrel. The result is simply a massive drop in muzzle velocity that makes the weapon kida useless; the Germans measured something like 1,200 fps drop in velocity with the Mp44 which is why they dropped the project.
This idea seems to bypass that problem - and can be fitted with a supressor, there's no way the targets would know where the rounds were coming from!

Like Viper above mentioned, Germans were there fist....during WWII , they developed Mp44 "krummlauf" (bent barrel), equipped with a small periscope system to enable aiming and shooting from a foxhole or a trench. It was tested on Eastern front, but for the reasons mentioned above by Viper, the project was abandoned.

I think R Lee Ermy reviewed something better on "Mail Call" where with the experimental Urban Warrior set up, there's going to be an assult rifle with a small camera and the solider will have a HUD attached to his helmet, thereby allowing him to see and shoot around corners w/out exposing his body (ok ok...maybe his hands will be exposed :P ). That looked better than the Lego pistol above (or is it made by Tycho?)

advanced warrior systems seem more valuable. as you wont have to look around the corner to know they are there.

Simple fact ... if you know where they are before they know where you are.... you are most likely going to put them down first.

I saw a video of this last year, and I couldn't help but think that I would want something other than a Glock at the end of it. Don't take that the wrong way, I personally have owned three Glocks, it is just that I would want a rifle round.

Of course this would probably find a different application altogether outside of a pure combat role.
