First off, uninstall GR the regular way. When that is complet, delete all Ubi and Redstorm shortcuts and folders from your desktop and hard drives.

Then check all of your temp folders for this file : D89EF3B3 and delete it if you see it.

Then go to Start, Run, and type in REGEDIT. Hit enter. The go up to file, and choose EXPORT, and export a copy of your registry to a safe place. If you mess up, this can be restored in safe mode by double clicking it and rebooting in regular mode.

Then with REGEDIT still open follow the below steps, then Re-install GR, then DS, then IT. and apply patch 1.3 first, then 1.4 This should do it. If it doesn't, then post here and we willl get you up and running.

If you are having a problem removing Ghost Recon so you can reinstall it, try this and see if it helps:

From the Start Menu, click Run and type in "regedit" (without the quotes) then left click "OK".

Following the next set of instructions requires you to left-click the "+" sign to the right of the proceeding directories to expand them:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE -> SOFTWARE -> Red Storm Entertainment (right-click on the folder Ghost Recon, left-click "delete" and accept the removal message)

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE -> SOFTWARE -> Microsoft -> Windows -> Current Version -> App Paths (right-click on the folder GhostRecon.exe, left-click "delete" and accept the removal message)

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE -> SOFTWARE -> Microsoft -> Windows -> CurrentVersion -> Uninstall (right-click on the folder that starts.. {D89EF3B3-.. }, left-click "delete" and accept the removal message)

Close the Registry Editor and reinstall Ghost Recon, then any expansion packs (if applicable). Finally, download and install the Ghost Recon patch 1.4.

In addition to the Uninstall guide above, we also have a full report published in the RECON section : Uninstalling Ghost Recon.

Ghost Recon Reinstall Guide

Tips for moving Ghost Recon to a new Computer.

Backup system files from current Installation.

1. Backup all .xml files from the Ghost Recon root folder

This will ensure your campaign progress, your custom messages, and your server bookmarks will not be lost.

2. Backup the Save folder in GhostRecon/Data

This will ensure you do not lose all your key mappings, game saves, and replays.

Install Ghost Recon on new System

1. Install GR from original disk

2. Install DS from original disk

3. Install IT from original disk

4. Install Patch from here.

5. Copy xml files into Ghost Recon folder

6. Copy Save folder into Data folder

6. Allow firewall access for GhostRecon.exe

Job done... I think.

Aren't these re-install instructions based on the assumption that the person is installing both expansion packs? If they only have GR, then they need the 1.3 patch, right?
