Well, I'm steadily moving up the modeling circuit, and this is my 1st attempt at making an M4 that it high poly. It's 1991 polys, which is about 1300 more then I usually have.
But, I've got a couple of problems. The texture, even though I've got it a 3600x1928, is 2 small! It doesn't make me happy when I spend 10 hours on an M4, and the texture won't work. Any advice on how to fix this? In uvw unwrap mode, it shows like a dozen of my textures tiled. Anyone to get them not tiled? Anyway, here's the render.

Yay!

gj you should make the sight lens indented sorta speak,by the way it looks,it looks like you detached the end of it and textured it..if you make a tube inplace of the cylinder then a circle and extrude it .1 units on it will look better.Other than that looks great for your first one

After a night of texturing
My M4 is in a decent condition. With a little texture work, this'll be a good weapon.

Yeah!

My god dude, how did you get good so quick, I only gave you 1 lesson! My only worry is your thing with texturing, see GR only takes textures that are powers of 2. Ive been told that GR sometimes converts them but Ive never tryed. As to the tiled bit in UVW map, you can re scale your whole weapons faces in that screen to get it on to the texture, I bet youve allready learnt this stuff thou! Remeber I said you gotta come work with me on that secret thing when your good enough? Well ya can come now!

That's cool Chems. I did already figure out the rescale UVWs. And, I'm going to retexture the whole thing with texture sizes of 512x512 . . .
It needs serious work on the texture neway. As for your secret thing, PM with some details and I'll be happy 2 help.

Nice work guys.
On that hbar:
*The charging handle is a solid piece that runs across the top of the receiver and protrudes over both sides.
* You could cut out the rear sight and carrying handle.
* I'd work on rounding out the cheek piece, stock, and grip.
Overall a fantastic looking model. The rubber coating on the scope looks great.
