  1. I would love to see Fuel Depot from Ghost Recon 2. Loved that map. Massive territory and a lot of stuff to do and one of the more difficult yet fun maps to work w/ your team on. Four guys - or in some cases, ladies - working as a unit and completing that map was fun!
  2. Amen to that!!! Alicia Diaz was smoking H-O-T in Ghost Recon 2! I remember playing that game and zooming in w/ my sniper rifle on her butt... She was a great sniper too!!!
  3. As I am probably one of the few remaining people who plays GR: AW II I just wanted to mention the nice touch of the new movie posters in one of the maps. I play a lot of solo stuff, I will open a room on Live and just do missions by myself, and I was playing in Locks the other night, one of my favorite maps, and noticed posters for The Book Of Eli starring Denzel Washington and Edge Of Darkness w/ Mel Gibson. It was kind of shocking the first time because I turned, expecting a bad guy to be there, and instead was greeted by Denzel! Anyway, a kind of cool touch. Carry on...
  4. Great post! I definitely agree with you on Caves and Peaks. I would add Fuel Depot from GR 2 because that map was just so fun and intense. It was massive... and you could also do things a bit out of order... (you never lazered the fuel supply until you took out the first wave of enemy) I have so many fond memories of that map. I also really enjoy Locks from GRAW II... but Caves, Peaks and Fuel Depot would be probably be the top three. I know this is the PC area of GR 4, but nobody seems to be posting on the GR 4 XBox 360 forum... which concerns me. It could also signal a time for change for me... getting GR 4 for PC instead of console... but then I'd need to get a new computer... a more comfortable chair... LOL... all that might bring the cost of the game for me up to roughly $2,500.00 bucks... LOL
  5. There are some things that just aggravate the heck out of me in GR:AW 2 and I would love to see these eliminated completely in Ghost Recon 4. I doubt I am alone with these thoughts... General Martin: Can we please get rid of this guy? There are a few maps in the DLC where he says... "Ghosts, destroy the enemy targets." Really? As if being a Ghost all these years that idea hadn't sunk in yet. There are other instances of this Martin guy that border on asinine. Just do away with all the high-tech stuff and that should eliminate Martin altogether. Time Limits: Okay, I get it for on-line play. But there are also those of us who would love to play a map, on or off-line, and have no time limit. Can we at least get the option to turn this off? I rather doubt in real world exercises that teams of elite forces are inserted and told, "you have one hour to finish this mission." There may be times in real world where time is a sensitive issue, but the option to turn this off would be nice. It would also be nice if there were bigger maps with much more to do and no time limit. Yes, there are those of us who would love to play tough maps that may take two or three hours to complete. Again... options... are the best way to deal with this. Objective time limits: This really should go with the above, but there are certain objectives where you are told... ahem, by Martin, that you need to demo something... and you get roughly 15 seconds to do so and if you don't, you have failed and helicopters are sent in to pummel you. It really is no fun to be 30 minutes into a map, all done with the utmost stealth realism as possible, then suddenly you are forced to go kamikaze to get one stupid objective done. One way to keep this real would be to have all of our objectives laid out prior to the insertion, and to be told, this Com Tower needs to be demoed within the first 10 minutes or else all hell will break loose. At least then we could have our maps with no time restriction and yet have certain objectives where we need to get them done ASAP. As someone who plays this game solo it is very frustrating to be put in impossible situations. The Locks map in GR:AW 2 is a great example of needing to demo something yet having the freedom to do it whenever. More of this, please. All I want to get across to the developers is that we are not all run & gun players. There are many of us who like things stealth and real. Slow is good. For one, it adds tension, and in a game like GR, tension is essential.
  6. This may get a bit long, but allow me, if you will, to add my .02 cents. I wasn't introduced to the Ghost Recon franchise until Ghost Recon 2. My brother was hyping it up and then I played it and I was hooked. I realize many of the original GR players didn't care for GR 2, but I still believe these are valid points. First, when you pop the Ghost Recon 2 disc into your XBox, you hear that music. Low... ominous... eerie... then you hear Scott talking... "this time, we're here to win a war before it even starts..." I was probably hooked right there. That music set the mood. And in a game like this, the mood is ever so important. Next, strategy. Echoing what many others have already stated, but team work and strategy should be the main focus for a group called the Ghosts. Back in the GR 2 days me and three friends would do co-op and we'd go into Fuel Depot and if we played it 10 times we might finish it half the time. It required team work, strategy and planning. If one person screwed up, it threw the balance for everything and everyone else off. That map was long and intense. But it was so damn much fun. I remember many a night playing that map over and over. Finally... these are Ghosts. Special, E-L-I-T-E forces. It is my opinion that these guys shouldn't need Advanced Warfighter technology. Drop them off, give them some good guns and let 'em go. One of the more annoying things with GRAW:2 is that damn General Martin, or whatever his name and rank are, telling you stuff that's coming up, when he's what... 100 miles away? 1000? "Ghosts, there's an enemy truck leaving the compound. Take it down! General Martin, out!" God that gets annoying. I would hope that Ubisoft... hopefully Red Storm, take the game back to its roots. Simplify things, lose all the high tech stuff, and let the Ghost's be Ghost's. That is, let them do what they do best; which is tactical, team-oriented, stealth-like hunting. Create bigger maps that are difficult yet let the Ghost's use strategic abilities, the very thing they are supposedly known for, to see them through. There have been so many disappointments in gaming and a good majority of these are since Next Gen came about. We were promised bigger, better gameplay, and yet the majority of the released product fails when compared to their old gen counterparts. Please... please get Ghost Recon IV right. To summarize: 1: Mood 2: Strategy | Teamwork | Tactical 3: Lose the high tech crap
  7. I have just joined this forum although I have been reading it off and on for quite a while now. It was in February of 2005 that my brother turned me on to Ghost Recon II and it didn't take long before I was hooked. Then I ventured out and became a member of XBox Live and for a time it increased the fun in an already exciting game. When Ghost Recon II: Summit Strike was released I decided to try and take things one step further. I spent many hours looking for serious and dedicated players. The kind of people who are looking to utilize the game for all its worth. As I see it, the Ghost Recon series, at least II and Summit Strike, can best be enjoyed as a team game. Where strategy and teamwork play into the outcome with an almost unbelieveable realism. It really doesn't matter if you are playing Squad or Co-Op, either way I believe that TEAMWORK is the key. I think any soldier in real life would tell you the same. Here's the problem, and if you'll hang with me, I'll get to the question: The problem is that XBox Live is primarily geared towards young kids. How many times I found myself in a room with 10-15 year olds who have NO clue about the concept of teamwork. It doesn't matter who gets the most kills, what matters is defeating the opponent and working as a team and ensuring that all members of your team stay alive. (That's how I see it anyway) So frustrated was I that I actually quit playing about a month ago. I see a game that has amazing potential, yet the people that I have seen play it, have no idea of how to tap into that possibility, and sadly, no desire. With the realization that what I envisioned was not going to happen, I walked away. Now, more than a month later I find myself missing the game. And I still find myself hoping that what I envision is still a possibility. My question: Are there people out there who play the game the way I do? Teamwork, strategy, and PATIENCE? I should also add that I prefer, and play only 1st Person! The over-the-shoulder thing is cheap, in my opinion. Yet whenever I started a room of squad, playing Last Man Standing and put the settings on 1st Person Only all I heard were complaints. Many complaints. When I explained that the playing field was now level for everyone I still heard more complaints. Having read this forum for a time I decided the best thing to do was post this question and see if there are actually any people out there who feel as I do. I figure the worst that could happen is I will get flamed and laughed at. I can handle that. But before I give up on this great game completely I figured I should ask. I have great hope that Ghost Recon: Adavanced Warfighter will open up the possibilities even more. With the delay until February I see a window open to find other like-minded people. I would also add that I would dearly love to join a clan with people like me playing against others like me. Thanks for your patience and my apologies for a very lengthy first post!
