101459
Forgotten Hope 2 deserves a very honorable mention here on Tactical Realism Titles; it's not merely a mod, it's an epic total conversion for Battlefield 2 (larger then the game it installs on) that if you've missed it you've really owe it to your self to see this unique approach in large scale Tactical Realism gaming. While the game bares some semblance to the BF2/R2 game/engine it runs on the FH2 team have left no feature of the Refractor 2 engine untouched in working to eek out new game design, features, levels of realism, and even render capability... The scale of FH2 is somewhere between the ArmA games and Ghost Recon, with a slower more cautious pace TR Fans covet, atmosphere Ghost Recon Fans will love, enhanced squad reinforcement features from BF2/Refractor2, as well as unique features the FH2 team have added in their approach to WW II combined arms tactical warfare. Developers and Fans may also enlist to play in massive multi-day, multi-player campaigns on original content created just for the occasion, some of these maps and campaigns approach or surpass ArmA maps in scale. Over a decade in the making (it was originally a BF1942 TC) the FH2 team are still cranking out high quality content at a phenomenal pace made all the more impressive by it being just a spare time labor of love -- though there are rumors they're quietly building their own ground up engine for a stand alone game some day. This one is well worth the effort of downloading, setting up, and learning to play -- and still stands as one my all time favorites. While there are not as many playing as there once was, you can watch for new releases of maps, campaigns as well as additions to the massive catalog of weapons and vehicles to punctuate the server population. As well there's a coop mode that while it's only fighting against Refractor 2's limited bots it will let you play and explore some of the maps and elaborate mission design.
