The worst CTD problem in history (the bane of my existance)

Ok so after releasing SDT I decided I would have another crack at getting chaos ad out there seeing as there is so much awesomeness yet to be seen by people.

Just the other day I completed work on a really cool mission bringing the number of missions up to 11, Ive also completely redesigned the ghosts and many of the characters/vehicles/objects/maps to give it a future soldier feel.

I booked today and tomorrow off work to really get to grips with the problems some of the missions have and overall improve them and really make them something special.

However after a successful morning of reskinning I hit a brick wall square in the face.

Ok so here's what happens on a number of missions I will save the game, reload go into the tactical map and either after a few seconds of being on there or after selecting a team the game crashes to desktop.

It's always in the tac map and always after I reload the mission.

There are hidden actors and vehicles but even unhiding them does not fix the problem.

The ike report is completely useless it doesn't tell me anything useful except a thousand lines of :sound unitialized (which Ive seen playing numerous mods that worked fine).

Ive been working on this for nearly a year and a half and I feel like Ive just wasted my time :(

Does anyone know the cause of this kind of CTD?

Cause would be strictly a guess on my part but this is what I'd try:

-Delete the Save folder of the mod.

-That the command map.rsb is the correct name in the .env file.

-Make sure the command map has no alphas(maybe a stupid idea but it came to mind)

Is it possible for you to upload what you have got and how I would try to to replicate the error?

Mission/missions and what produces it.

I have a good idea already from your description but anything else that would help pin it down.

Hey Wombat thanks for the reply I will see about sending you the mod folder however I feel like I know where the problem may originate from.

This is not to say I have a holy clue in hell what the problem is but the mod folder itself has been worked on, on and off for over a year and half right from the very beginning of my initiation into gr modding up to the present.

To put it simply, it's a horrible mess SDT had about a dozen unused files in the folder but going through Chaos A.D's folder is like performing stomach surgery on a dead bloated cow. There are models, textures and tons of other crap that I think or know are unused but I'm too afraid to delete them incase they mess something really half assed and stupid I did all that while back and permanently break the missions. When you consider Ive only recently learned that the skinner can be used for things other then chr files you can imagine all the stupid primitive things Ive done to compensate for that.

Ive decided to scrap and cannibalize Chaos AD. As a project its almost totally screwed Ill take the assets and what missions I can save to a new improved and more professionally organised and maintained mod folder (with a new name).

Ill still see about uploading the folder for you, just because Id love to save a couple of the missions that are really screwed.

I have tried deleting the save files, the ctd seems to happen on original maps as well as custom ones.

There are no actors or vehicles off map. (1 mission has a vehicle with two actors drive off map and disappear but crash happens early on while they are still on map)

Crashes all seem to happen after saving and reloading then using the command map. Missions work fine mostly when just 1 fire team is selected.

I know I must be missing something but I can't for the life of me get to the bottom of what links these crashes together.

There is a mission(as_sr2004_1_navyy_terek.mis) where it is never possible to load a save without CTD.
Initially an actor(SealsActorD) and a boat are placed on the playable map but are teleported to an area where it is not possible to place actors in the usual way. That is an area where when floors are toggled on it does not appear blue. I believe this is why it CTD on loading a save.

Get this in the Ike.log:
Loading map c:\program files (x86)\red storm entertainment\ghost recon\mods\origmiss\map\m07_river\m07_river.map
SimHuman: SealsActorD[ AI_0 (0) ]: Could not find my room for location <-192.856, 165.738, -5.10821>
RSGameStateMgr::LoadGameFromStream( std::ifstream ) Could not read stream

It doesn't crash as yours do. It immediately CTD instead of in your case you are back in the game for a few moments before CTD. Are there any similarities to these CTD?

Hi wombat sorry I did not see your new post.

I have had that problem before with other missions but the fix was always to just move any actors/vehicles back onto the map.

You get a few moments and most of the time you will have to bring the command map up and move the cursor around it a bit and that makes it crash :/

There is nothing referencing the crash in the ike log just...
