CTerrian, ty for the assist. after Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter, renderer_settings, open w/ wordpad and change the res. Reboot and I'm good-to-go.

Open Windows Explorer, and navigate to: C:\...\Ghost Recon\options.xml tried looking in win explorer like u suggested. opened all the folders and couldn't find options.xml. I'm not a programmer and am pretty dumb when it comes to all that. i'll tell u what i did. start>my computer>local drive>program files>ubisoft>ghost recon advanced warfighter>?? bunch of dll files, Bundles, local, tools, etc. i just haven't learned any of this yet, sorry.

i changed the res and now all i get is "invalid format" across my screen. i tried rebooting the game and the pc with no effect.
