Zeealex
I've got to grips with the terrain and static mesh tools now and decided to have a fun crack at M01_caves. it doesn't look like m01 caves much but it looks alright, i've only got the first couple of bits down map wise, there's no upper area yet. Obviously I don't know EVERYTHING there is to know about UDK yet, either. but I'm one of those practical minded people who needs to practice whats being said in the tutorials so... piccy! If you install ghost recon from the disk as normal in wine it should work. if not let me know, I'm normally on ubuntu and GR works fine with the graphic drivers active. not sure what you mean by free download? UDK is free, but you still have to buy GR
Tinker
Great start here, remember you can model for free in sketchup or blender and import into the UDK.

Zeealex
you need to install winetricks via the command line not sure if ubuntu's one will work

Zeealex
this is what i've got down so far after what i'd already done. it's the beginning of the landscape as you finish running up the hill after eliminating your first four enemies of the mission. Zeealex
i've had a mess around with cryengine 3, and i have to say, Cryengine's SDK is so much better than UDK, you can just use stuff without having to compile them into a specific format first, you can use bitmaps or .dds files off the bat and the terrain editor makes more sense might try a cryengine version of M01 it might prove to be more satisfying to the eye as well. pz3
I wouldnt say CE3 is drag and drop. .dds and .bmp will create errors. All the textures are Cry Tif format. Other then that ill agree it is like modifying OGR in my opinion.
teppe
Looks pretty cool, I would just recommend some more vegetation. I guess you're just creating this as a "learn map", which is a good idea. If you put in some more vegetation (cover the ground with some grass-ground textures, place some more "small" forest areas, to give some more life and atmosphere). I would also suggest to mix green ground textures with these "desert" ones, as the result could do the level some more interesting from the "eye". If you wan't to add some more play ability, I really would suggest to add some more vegetation objects, so that the map will be more "intense" if you get me. Sorry if I'm too critic, hehe. These are of course only my stupid 2 cents, it's your level, you choose. I like it though, really good work, keep it up!
