mudcake
Hi, Is it possible to adjust the sound volume of weapons separately from other background ones?
wombat50
In the game by going to Options>Sound there are four switches and volume sliders: -Master -Effects -Music -Voice They can all be adjusted for volume or completely turned off. Note that Voice are the scripted responses the AI make. The other way would be to modify the effects.xml but this is something that I would not do myself. mudcake
Hi wombat50, I know about the adjustments in Sound Options. That doesn't allow me to adjust gun fire sounds without also affecting background sounds such as wind and animal sounds.
wombat50
If you open the gun file sounds with a program like Audacity you can amplify the sound then save it with the same format and file name. I think most weapon sounds are mono, 22050 Hz, 16 bit PCM(.wav) I would do this in a mod of your own and not overwrite the original files. If you use the exact same file name or names it is not necessary to edit the effects.xml or reconcile them with the Sound Volume editor in Igor. This is true for the original game and community mods. The only time it is necessary to reconcile with the Sound Volume editor is when using a new file name for a sound.
