Well,......the poo is hitting the fan over in the UBI AC2 and SHV forums. Seems that what I and others predicted about UBI servers being unstable, is hampering people from playing their SINGLE PLAYER games and there are some unhappy campers. Typical UBI response............"We're looking into it" ( Backs out of here,wondering how long UBI will defend their user unfriendly DRM )

I understand what you're sayin.......kinda .But what I never understood about the AW series,was why design the game in the first place that would make a reduction of coop slots for the PC version .The AW-PC version was developed by GRIN and wasnt a console port so the "focus" was on the windows platform..........I guess. I agreed.....there is NO point (for me),if the use of dedicated server files and mod tools arent allowed................,and by the looks of the DRM......that probably aint gonna happen. I cant imagine a pleasureable experiance being possible using UBI's servers,with their history of being unstable,plus the possible fact of not being able to game with who I choose and how I choose.

Thank you ScOpE,for saving me time it takes typing,to say what you did...........all are valid points,that I think some who are not having a problem excepting said DRM,may be over looking. UBI can use this DRM all they want..........but...........they aint selling me a game that includes it,cause I aint buying into this BS.

Kleaneasy, It may have seemed that I was replying only to you ,due to the fact that I only quoted you,and that wasnt the intent of my post..to just call you out.Other's have posted in this thread discussing the console version coop number as well , which I dont understand,because this site/forums ( unlike UBI's forums for GR:FS) has PC and console discussions seperated. Concerning Lighty's post..............I really didnt understand his point,but I'd be willing to place a bet that he was talking about the PC version,because I'm pretty sure he's a PC only gamer. The fact that the pc versions of AW coop was reduced to 4 slots,while the xbox supported 16players ,left me( and quite a few others here) really dumbfounded . No,I wont buy any of the excuses givin for the decission to do so either, I've played Arma coop with 6 to 10 players and now playing Arma2 with the same amount..............gasp,on a dailup connection. My point.........if a little ole developer like BIS can offer coop ,that handles WAY more than 4 players and can be played on a dailup connection ( with the server being in Romaina and me being in Mississippi) ...........well,I dont think it'd be every hard for other developers to do,IF....they really wanted to. Ramble over.......for now

We are NOT talkin about the console version. This is the "GR:FS (PC)- Gereral Discussion and we are talkin about the reduction of coop slots in the (PC) AW series ( which was one of the main reasons I did not buy or play them,along with other "away from GR roots" reasons)and the possibilty of the same being the case in the (PC) FS series. Although,it's a mute point now,because as I've already stated, UBI's DRM will reason enough for me not to waste any of my cash .

Even if the coop slot numbers were brought back to 9 players on the PC version,which I doubt will happen,UBI shot themselves in the foot, as far as I'm concerned, with the DRM that's going to included , requiring us to be connected to THEIR servers. I dont WANT,nor am I going to connect to their server................I want to be able to connect to my teams' server or Alpha Squads server. It's plain and simple............no 9 or more player coop,no direct IP connection, a requirement to connect to UBI server(even in SP mode) = no sale of GR:FS to 4X

I havent read all the replies to this thread,so excuse me if this has already been stated. The one thing that I'd like to see "added"...............which isnt a correct term,because it was there in the 1st GR but removed from the AW series..................is 9 or more player coop. I won't get into the "remove" part of the question...........except to say ,take out ALL the AW crap that wasnt in GR1...........ie hero character,"your're leaving the battle area" ect,ect,ect,ect,ect,ect. And while I'm here,I'll say one last thing.....................dont even think about adding a DRM that requires a constant connection to UBI servers to be able to play,mp OR sp.................that is a sure loss of sale to me,I aint puttin up with that,period!!!!!!!!!!

Don, That is the correct addy. Thanks Rob,for your input......I think I can figure out the "key" and use disc that came with mother's pc. However.......the more I think about the time it's gonna take to copy all the data that I want to save.........I'm leaning more towards getting another HD and add it to system......Arma stuff has almost filled this one up already and the "end" isnt even in sight. I guess I could pickup a thumb drive dohicky or two........copy all data to those..............do a fresh XP install/format AND add a second HD..........probably would be the best thing to do. Edit :................If My memory serves me correctly,the xp recovery disc that I have DOES NOT have SP1 on it........yeah it's that old.....kinda like some of us here - Leaving for now ,scratching my head,trying to make up my mind.

Don, My Os is windows XP Media Center Edition ( I assume 32 bit)...........After I bought pc,I DLed sp2 from MS site and have also DLed many a "security" updates as well during the past few years.....also DLed sp3 from MS site when it was made available. "Rocket scientist"..............who me?LMAO,I do good to find the choke and starter button on this darn thing......that's why I asking ya'll. Also,"Dell" didnt send a hard copy of OS with PC,but somewhere,someplace,I'm "supposed" to be able to"revert back" to origanal state.......excusing myself for now wondering"how's this gonna work out".............. Just thought of something......I do have a XP OS disc that came with mother's PC....(years ago),wonder if I'd have any problem using it. I get the feelin I'm getting in over my head (tech knowledge).....It cant be very hard to do want I'm thinking about,but I sure do need an instruction manual. All help/support is appreciated

I'm back......with another question. I'm thinking about reformatting /reinstalling (what ever it's called) my win.XP media edition OS.However, I sure dont want to have to spend the time (on dailup connection) to DL Sp2 and 3 and all the other "security" updates that is on my pc. Question:.............. Is it possible to save all of it to disc and install them after OS reinstallation , without having to DL from MS site,and if so......how would I go about the installment of said "updates". The reason for wanting to reinstall OS, is just have a "clean" install and not have pc bogged down with about five years of poo,.........plus make more room on HD to put more Arma 2 stuff on. I've been reading the feedback about this in various forums (UBI SHV is up to 10 pages),and as Rocky has stated ,most of it is NEGATIVE. It seems the main emphasis is people not wanting to HAVE to connect to play SP mode of games,which is a valid concern and one that I agree with. I've only seen WK mention UBI's track record of server stability..... Their forums are riff with complaints of "server down" threads. I've stated my position in this thread,I won't buy/play any UBI game that requires a connection, already. I just wanted to secound WKs concern ,comments about UBI servers..............not something I'd depend on,nor put up with one sec. Backs out of thread wondering," why so many have a problem with having to have disc in drive to play a game".........I'd rather endure that ,than any of the alteratives,ie..what's being discussed here.

Well............this news is in no way suprising to me,and I'm kinda at a loss for words ( not really,just can't post/say what I liked to,because there'd be a lot of cussing) Krise M summed up and posted my thoughts in a civil way. So,all I'll say is............. I dont' care if GR4 turns out to be a true sequel to GR1 and is the best game ever made ( IMO,and I doubt THAT ever happening in the first place)........I AINT BUYING IT.The reasons why, have already been posted. Thank you UBI,for shooting yourself in the foot.
