Hachi
Hey, Quick stupid question probably, but where is the best place to get a copy?, and is it best to download from somewhere like steam? Thanks in advance for any tips! Cheers
Jeza
I have both disc and steam as I'm sure many people here do. Steam takes care of the patching for you so that's a plus, its been stable with all the mods I have tried but that may not be the same for every case? But assuming so for ease if nothing else steam maybe the way to go.
Hachi
Thanks for that Jeza. You answered my next question as well, about the patches and the downloadable content. My next question is, Do I need to buy the expansion packs?, not sure what they were called, desert something and something else? Again, Thanks in advance. Pave Low
Hi Hachi, Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter 2 (GR:AW 2) does not have any expansion packs The "Desert Siege" + "Island Thunder" Expansions were for a completely different game, "Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon" (from 2001) Which game was it you were meaning to play ? Hachi
Thanks, I am wanting to play GR:AW 2. That cleared that one up! Cheers
Zeealex
hey Hachi! Welcome to Gr.Net! If you want to try the previous Ghost Recon games in the future, steam do a cracking offer on the Ghost Recon complete pack, it's £24.99 for Ghost recon, desert seige, island thunder, GRAW and GRAW2, (it hasn't been updated to include Ghost Recon future soldier, thank god!) You save just under £7, and it can be MUCH cheaper during steam sales, we could be talking £12 or less here! the next steam sale is due in early july (predicted to be 12th july) of course, if you don't want to buy all of them, you can just buy GRAW2 for £9.99, steam automatically installs, verifies and patches it so you don't need to worry about mahoosive activation codes or scratched disks. alternatively used disk versions in good nick can go for as little as £2.53 on Amazon. but unlike steam, there's no guarantee that it will work.
Hachi
Hey, thanks for the information, I think for me being new to PC Gaming the Steam option sounds the best for me regarding patches and the like. I have been having a look around and have downloaded some of the content that is available ready for when I get my new machine. And my copy of the game! Maybe someday I might be able to contribute something back to the community, even if it is just some sort of object or skin for something. tom1935
Hachi, I have all the different ghost recon games, but only play graw2. This is the only one I really enjoy playing. I also have games on Steam and that works fine, maybe a little more difficult to get to the program than having the program directly on your computer, but still ok, I have several programs on steam. Enjoy playing, hoping graw2 online comes back, it is gradually building up, but slow. If you have problems logging onto graw2, just read the discussions on this site and you can get the problems resolved. People on this site is very helpful, as you can see already. Good luck.....enjoy Tom1935
Hachi
Thanks for the advice and kind words people, I hadn't thought about getting to the program bit, might be better to buy a disk copy and try doing the patches my self, I am usually not to bad at following instruction. Zeealex
steam, I honestly feel is much easier and much better. everything's in one place and things are really easy, it's like a 3 click process to install a game. everything you buy on steam remains in your steam library permanently, too so you don't have tow orry about losign things. but it's honestly your choice on how you want to do things
tom1935
As far back as I can remember, there has not been any changes to Graw2, so steam would not be that much benefit...
Zeealex
true, true it wouldnt be much benefit if we were talking just GRAW 2 here but if our dear friend hachi decides he wants to try other games steam is a good route to take. even without any recent updates, steam is still a much simpler and guaranteed process when it comes to purchasing and installing. tom1935
I agree, Steam is useful, but not in all cases. If you are heavy in playing more games, this is more useful and worth the effort, just not for Graw2.. Tom1935
Zeealex
To each their own... Some may disagree some may agree. Hachi has his potential answer so there's no real reason to start a debate.

twcrash
I agree to disagree lmao. just jokin but hey I do have the retail version i could get rid of . I guess it depends if you're within the states. Wouldn't be worth shipping overseas. But yeah let me know I have both (Graw1 and 2)
