So, the game is still alive or what?

Recommended Posts

Paladin is right wanderon, unfortunately.

They overhyped it, we all installed it.....and were let down......sound familiar ????

Unless they give us tools to be able to make our own maps for it, then its a dead in the water game.

I havent played it because of this.

Done the campaign, but hate the multiplayer TvT thing.

We have to play a waiting game now then.

Time will tell, although I wont hold my breath as Ubisoft never listened to us anyway....why would they start now ?

I so much wanted to like this game; to be fair I have less to complain about then most as I'm one of the few that got a refund, and then on a whim of optimism ordered the game again for only $17 -- so I can imagine the frustration, ire and disappointment of Fans that paid full boat for this game that as yet have barely been able to play it and in some cases not at all as far as MP is concerned.

And yes, sans a patch that breaks all previous records and trends for Ubisoft that fixes everything; Ghost Recon: Future Soldier PC looks to be deader then a door nail, there are more people playing decade old mods for obscure games. In fact Grfus stinks so bad people were posting bittorrnet comments to the official forums relaying it being a waste of time and bandwidth to download and steal.

This is just sad...

11pm on the west coast and there are fewer than 5,000 people online across all three platforms...

And that, according to most Developers is not enough to keep a match-making system working for just one game in a satisfactory manner. How can Ubisoft be so completely out of touch with this genre's audience? They had us in the palm of their hand, or rather RSE did -- over eleven million units of Ghost Recon (original) sold bought and paid for; and the game had DRM that was cracked before it went on sale! No one CARED, everyone loved it so much they had to OWN it.

I can't feature how a company that has a brand, a 'franchise', a big name like Tom Clancy, a brilliant studio like RSE, sales that are off the charts with squat for advertising -- can take it so far off the rails into derivative arcade shooter territory where there are more CoD clones and competitors then all other FPS games combined, repeatedly dumb their games down, see sales fall, and then do the same thing again. This is like the old saw on doing the same wrong thing and expecting a different result.

Hopefully, this will just drive the message home with enough of the mature audience and they'll be too exhausted, bored, and/or feel their trust too abused to give Ubisoft's next foray into being a Tactical Realism pretender even a sideways glance -- and those hanging their cheeks out taking big risks like BlackFoot Studios will finally get recognition and support they deserve.

Or, maybe I got stuck in a chrono-synclastic infundibulum and am on the time line of stupidity and doom where people imagine thirty-two player random respawn death match games on a map the size of a phone booth, with everyone running and screaming is some sort of deep, compelling, tactically sophisticated, immersive fun experience. When and why did things start having to be neck down stupid to be regarded as fun?

You can see how many people are playing the game at any given time here: http://ghostreconnetwork.ubi.com/en-US

It counts people in single & multiplayer. During peak hours you can expect to see a few thousand on PS3 and Xbox 360 and a few hundred on PC.

Nice find. Come to think of it, I don't know if its a good thing or bad thing for Ubi to publicize how many people are playing GRFS.

Right now it says there are 241 PC gamers that have got GRFS to work on their systems.

Hi everybody, i'm sure that incompatibility with XP hasn't been a good idea.

I meant to post up, I saw another big game that is about to launch is Win7 only.

BUT, I agree, the failure to support XP was crazy, and the attempt to backtrack on that decision has failed, badly. No XP support has definately hit those online figures.

Nice find. Come to think of it, I don't know if its a good thing or bad thing for Ubi to publicize how many people are playing GRFS.

At the time , either (1) they were in a deluded state of thinking that GRFS online was gojng to be huge or (2) the clever web team made the not so clever PC conversion look very, very inadequate.

How can Ubisoft be so completely out of touch with this genre's audience?

And there is the big question. They've been ignoring our (the community) feedback, both requested and unsolicited, for years now. Fantastic feedback, on issues big and small, has apparantly been ignored for want of a bigger audience, a slice of the CoD pie.

I don't think they are out of touch with the audience, that would infer that they do not know how their audience feel about the game, but they DO know, they just choose to ignore.

That certainly looks to be the case, but it's an interesting turn of events that took them to where they are; the Ghost Recon audience was once enormous, with more mod and fan sites then the two most disparate realism franchises ArmA and the MW have combined today -- that's some mighty marketing power that SOE and money can't buy from, even the likes of Hill & Knowlton, and it's gone.

Today the Ghost Recon audience is scattered and playing the DICE games on the arcade end of the spectrum, ArmA on the more realistic end, and legacy Ghost Recon mods serving up the original flavor of what is truly coveted -- with Ubisoft offering nothing but 'C' grade derivative filler that it can't even get up and running on a PC on a ten year old game engine; this is sad...

It has been said before; there have been good ideas in games that came after Ghost Recon that wore the name, but they're not original, not compelling to the same audience, not even technically of the same genre, and the depreciation of Ghost Recon into another, 'me too' arcade/casino CoD/MW derivative title has not only put off an enormous enthusiastic audience, it's burned the title value and credibility of the of the 'Ghost Recon' brand to the ground.

I guess we can only hope that support comes on strong for Grfus (PC), that Ubisoft actually get the game running for most that bought it, that they make some sort of effort (as DICE has) to redeem themselves for the ridiculous fiasco that is Grfus (PC) and give away the DLC -- ending this bad chapter of the Ghost Recon story on a high note...

But a more cynical and likely outcome considering Ubisoft's proclivities would be they actually try and sell the DLC, the game remains virtually unplayable for many that bought it, and the tiny audience that can actually play online will be instantly fragmented out of existence by those that bought DLC and those that did not -- that outcome will be just about as ugly and fraught with failure and resent directed at Ubisoft as can be conceived.

Ordered the game for $20 from Buy.com That was my price point prior to launch. Between this and EA MOH:WF and BF3 Xpansions it's been a crap year. Glad I didn't jump on the bandwagon for any of them. It kills me reading forum posts of people who keep buying this crap and giving their money away. Hopefully Takedown or Groundbranch will prevail in 2013

Haven't been around in a while. Have tried all the "other" military shooters, got bored and wanted to see if GR FS looked good. Watched a few u-tube vids and was saddened by what I saw. A lot of copied stuff from other games and third person action. Although it did look good, I decided to visit here and read some comments about the game.

I guess, sadly, the original concept of GR has faded. Nothing is very tactical anymore. Just run-n-gun action and lots of cut scenes to further a story.

A lot like the other military fps games. Oh well, perhaps someday they UBISoft may realize their mistake. I just can't bring myself to buy this latest game. I am sorry and very sad.

Welllll, here I am waiting for a download from steam, gonna take days!! I have been waiting for this game for a couple of years. Didn't buy until I could see some comments and getting plenty here that should have given me fair warning. Ok, lets see, I will let you know how I feel and hoping you guys and gals are just spoiled and bitching and not really giving me a good picture. I'll do that as soon as this darn download finishes!!! I have been playing ghost recon for years, and only the last couple of years got into the multiplayer part and enjoy that a lot. I did get a good price around $20, I don't think I would have paid the original price, after the things being said here. Have a good day...Tom1935 and have a happy new year.

Finished downloading the game. Played a little of it last night and don't like it at all. I got confused which guy I was controlling!!! I definitely don't like playing looking at myself, I'd rather be inside the body looking out just like earlier versions of the game. I'll keep on playing it but having a hard time thinking I will start liking it. Just an honest opinion ...Tom1935 Oh, I didn't play multiplayer...

It's called 3rd person, it has its own pro's and cons, some games are better played in 3rd person and some are better played in 1st person. Every other Ghost Recon on the PC has been in 1st person until GRFS, with PlayStation and xbox it has been in 3rd person since Ghost Recon 2 I believe.

It's out, but read the posts around the interweb -- it patches nothing -- in fact it makes many previous issues worse. The patch notes are a poster child for what this patch and the company behind it is (and isn't): spelling and punctuation errors galore, non sequiturs and nonsense sentences; though there is the very exciting "A fix for many issues reported by the community" -- yes that's a direct quote...right off the website of a Publisher that makes billions; some from the very game that can't even be played by millions that purchased it. Then there's the fact we're going on nine months out waiting on the "XP Patch" promised before release to be that "just weeks after release"... With lies like these, and so many others; how much longer do you suppose a company with the dysfunctional corporate culture Ubisoft constantly portrays can go on?

Can't argue with any of that, problem is, so few people have persevered and are even bothered about getting the game to run now that there is hardly even a squeek never mind a riot about Ubisofts treatment of PC customers. In other words, they got away with it.

Wow, what a massive let down. I can't believe it. I can just picture 1 guy working on patching the PC version once a fortnight. I don't think this would have gone through any kind of QA, judging by the filthy release notes. Patch doesn't even seem to do anything. This is seriously just a spit in the face to the PC community. What an absolute joke. I've been fed up with Ubi and this BS game. Now that's finally it. They can stick their GR where it fits if they release another piece of crap like this again.

Somehow, I'd love to screw them over for this. Lying to customers, not delivering. Way to create a negative PR. But, as you guys have said, the group of people that are even still bothering to try and play this would be so small, our voice wouldn't even be heard.

Long gone are the days of old school gaming, I'm afraid all we can look forward to is mobile gaming, using our bodies as controls, pushing <A> in cut-scene to make my character shoot all enemies, gaming is just boring now-a-days.

Not happy at all. *Start > All Programs > Ghost Recon: Future Soldier > Uninstall > Eject disc > throw outside*

If to be honest, future doesn't bring good stuffs to everything that evolves. If developers create crappy content and don't listen to the community, they obviously just care about the money (not all of them). Sometimes yeah they maybe gather up in the office and fix a couple of lines in some script and release a new patch in a couple of months hoping that players will not notice any bugs or glitches that were promised to be fixed.

If I'd be a modder/creator of all the magical games, I'd actually have something to do that I'd really love doing and make people happy, but I'm not, so don't get your hopes up -.-

But seriously, if Ubisoft is promising us fixes and says they are asking for feedback and they are hearing our complaints...such a massive company and doesn't do anything, besides a patch that makes the game even WORSE.

I myself haven't bought GR:FS because of the community, that doesn't excist in this game.

I think the situation (at least the Fan ire part) has more to do with being glossed over with a massive forum ban and Ubisoft Support marking virtually every issue submitted as "Resolved" after they were posted without any effort being made to resolve anything. Unfortunately many posts documenting this have either been moved for moderation, or are modded down and difficult to find. One feller, from Finland I believe was banned for essentially recounting all of this -- and then was magically "Unbanned" when it was pointed out by a few hundred Fans that he wasn't in any way, shape or form: '...trolling, flaming, making non constructive posts, or insulting members' (Ubisoft Community Manager's given reason)... Then, virtually everyone posting their support to the unban thread was banned, as well -- the people asking what was going on were banned, and so on -- just like French Generals used to do with their Soldiers, only now their sorry Lieutenants are UK Citizens that work for peanuts (or nothing at all)...

Thank goodness we have 'Coco' to straighten us out and tell us what Gurfus is really about, how the game should be played and the proper attitude... It won't be long now till 'Coco' (or someone like her) is hired as a Developer, or to even run the company...

It popped up in a Google Search when I was looking for Ghost Recon ArmA II mods -- it surprised me to see virtually identical sentiment about Ubisoft was reflected even on a site I'd never seen, in a different context of yet another Ubisoft game by yet another distant and isolated audience; it looks like Ubisoft is working overtime on its bridge burning campaign.

Don't know what to say, I'll just keep playing the game and try and get some good out of it. I have not been in the conversation long and may not have a good feel as to what's bitching or what's real. There are a few people on this forum that I do respect (John, Rahn, and Sidd). I'll hold judgment until I have a chance to play the game more. So far, I don't like it, maybe because its so different from other Ghost Recon games. I know my two cents worth doesn't sound as professional as others but should be worth at least what I've put into it...Tom1935
