  1. Owkay... Seems like this was the time for me to play GRAW again anyway... Upon restarting my PC DisplayFusion suddenly came up with a message that an update was available since (can you guess??) TODAY (well, the 15th). And what'ya know, this is written in the update-notes: "New Function for preventing most full screen game windows from deactivating on mouse-out or Alt+Tab". Although my minimising problem had nothing to do with mouse-out or Alt-Tab events (it just minimised on startup), I've got a feeling their code has nailed my problem anyway :D So after an agonising period in which I couldn't figure out what the hell was going on, suddenly in one night two breakthroughs and now all is back to normal. Did the inital GRAW2 mission without a single hitch, and now it's "Head for the quarry Mitchell" But that's for tomorrow. Ow... and now I feel confident I can safely purchase Future Soldier.. Can't wait!! Nighty-night all of you Ghosts! Happy Camper signing off, Peace, Frank Is there a way to put [sOLVED] in the topic title?
  2. Whaaaaaaaaaaaa! :D :D I think I've found it!!!! The cullprit seemed to be a program I'm using to handle my second monitor's taskbar, DisplayFusion. I did have it on my computer before, when all was still working, but had it upgraded some while back. Probably this update screwed GRAW for me. I've used the excellent tips in this article: http://www.bricode.com/game-or-application-keeps-minimizing-or-losing-focus-in-windows-7/ I first tried the solutions given, and as they didn't work, I used his method of figuring out what was happening. It means downloading a program from Microsoft, ProcesMonitor, and look at the processes that are running right at the moment the game minimises (which was instantly, at startup. It only seemed to affect GRAW and GRAW2, my other games all run perfectly well with DisplayFusion running. For now, I just exit DisplayFusion before the game, and restart it after. I've checked GRAW, and it runs. Now to let my dog have a walk and when I'm back I'll try GRAW2. I'm so happy! edit: @ CJo1964: Haha, no I didnt try to envelope two monitors in the game. But it would be crazy if a game WOULD run on two monitors. Wide-angle view anybody? The non-compliance message is only given at first install and start of the game, not when you just fire it up to play. Forgive me if I don't try that right now. Non-comliant or not, it runs... And yes, I did a full Catalyst install I will slip a line to the creators of DisplayFusion as well, maybe they can take it into account.
  3. Well, I'm happy the original Ghost Recon works. I'm halfway through the Desert Siege campaign allready But I still can't figure out why GRAW (& 2) keep minimising. Again, please, if you have any idea that can help... tell me regards, Frank
  4. Hi, Yes, I fully uninstalled the videodriver. By uninstall of Catalyst and uninstalling driver through device-manager. Before I installed the new Catalyst, my screen was default 800x600. I still have no luck, just cannot get them to work... They keep minimising to the taskbar. I shut everything off what I could think of. I miss them!!! I really want to be able to play GRAW and GRAW2 again ... sniff... I'm having a go at it again now, now I have some time on my hands. I will also re-install the original Ghost Recon, to see if the old beast will work (without and with Desert Siege and Island Thunder). But GRAW and GRAW2 are two of my all time favorites and I just love to play them from time to time. And I am hesitant to buy Future Soldier now, not untill I figured this out. I'm afraid it will also just minimise to taskbar. I'll try to look here now every day, so please, if any of you have any suggestions or questions for me to check... give it a go! Greatfull for all help... Frank
  5. Hi Zeealex, Thanks for the fast reply ) As for your comments, I'm sorry, I do have DirectX 11 (my mistake, I just checked with dxdiag) and I do have Catalyst 12.6. This driver version 8.98 comes up if I open system hardware from my configuration screen and click to graphic adapter and driver details. It is I guess another driver type or versioning. My drivers are all up to date. I run regular virus checks, twice a month or so, and keep a very good eye on what goes on on my computer. I built my Pc myself, and not for the first time. [EDIT: hmm... my screenshot says DirectX 10, and dxdiag says DirectX 11... I believe dxdiag more I think] Nonetheless, as I said, I have played the game at least three times from start to end on this same computer with no problems. Your advice was correct, but no, I'm allready up to date. Any other ideas? I'm going crazy over this. Playing Just Cause 2 instead just doesn't cut it ;-) kind regards from Amsterdam
  6. Hello, I'm having a really, really annoying problem... I have played this game, GRAW2 and also GRAW1 and even the original GR series many times on my current and previous computers. GRAW2 the last time a couple of months ago, I guess about 5 or 6 months. All went perfectly well, the game runs fine on my computer. I have completed it at least 5 times or so (well, it IS good). Since the last time I played, nothing major has changed on my computer. Certainly no hardware changes, only a couple of new programs, but that is all. Specs below. Now, when I start up GRAW2 (and also GRAW1 by the way), the game minimizes to taskbar immediately, even during the initial startup-movies (Grin and so on). I see when it start that the game resolution is set very low, because it shifts half the wallpaper onto my second monitor. Then the wallpaper is restored to the original resolution and the game-window minimizes to the taskbar. The game keeps on running, finishing it's startup sequence and coming to the player menu. I can hear it, I can refocus it for a fraction of a second before it minimizes again. So it is not a crash, not of the game and not of the computer. But needles to say it renders the game unplayable... I have un- and re-installed the game twice, removing all configurations and save games. After re-install it gives me this window, stating my Graphic Driver is out of date: I have updated my Catalyst drivers tot the latest version, again did a reinstall, but with the same result. I also checked my DirectX, but it is above spec (v. 10) I have also installed the Physics driver necessary. Again, this game HAS run multiple times on the same machine with no problems whatsoever, so I'm really baffled. All other games I have installed now, like Just Cause2, Far Cry 2, Skyrim run absolutely perfect. I'm out of ideas... I searched this forum but didn't find anything, so here is a new topic then. Anybody have any clue or solution? I really want to play the game again, and also shell out for FS, but not before I get this fixed... My machine: Windows 7 Ultimate Intell Core i3 530 processor on 2,93 Ghz 4 GB RAM ATI Radeon HD 5700/EAH 5750 (512MB GDDR5) Driver version 8.980.0.0 Two monitors, one 16:9 24 inch Acer and one 4:3 uh 21 inch Dell (? similar size only 4:3 ratio) Now if I look in my configurationscreen>system>hardware and goto the details of my driver-files I do find one file with a version 1132 (as in the screenshot). The file is aticfx32.dll. However, I did an upgrade to the latest drivers, so, this should be the latest version of this file? Ok.. that's it i guess. So the game always ran fine, and now it minimizes on startup. Anybody? Kind regards, Frank
