Rocky
IGN Says The fifteen missions in GR2 are looking to be much less linear and scripted which seems to me to be at odds with (1) the non-linear missions I've played and enjoyed time after time in Ghost Recon (!), and (2) the scripted sequences we've seen in GR2 movies (i.e. NPC SAS characters, and something else that slips my mind right now), that we never saw in any GR1 missions! Or am I in the Twilight Zone here?! I'm not getting into a "one is better than the other" debate, it just seems that what IGN has posted is, uhm, baloney! Edit> Wow that was alot of exclamation marks for me, better go lie down now. Edited August 13, 2004 by Rocky

deleyt
Most of those reporters don't know what they're talking about and are often right off the mark although presenting them as so called facts. The last article by a reporter from GameSpy had similar odd "facts" and statements that didn't make sense. I remember one article by another online magazine that was actually stating that GR2 was using a completly new engine although Heather Chandler (producer of GR2) clearly mentioned in one of the video-interviews that GR2 is using a modified GR1-engine. So much for "knowledge" with these articles. I've noticed that allthough all magazines claim to be neutral, most of the reviews are based on the likings/dis-likings of the particular reporter. That's OK ofcourse, we're all human, but messing up facts is a whole different matter. Most of those reporters have little connection to the community except for the developer's forums itself and we all know that those forums don't hold the smartest people at times.... Kurtz
This article and the Gamespy preview are illustrative of the fact that some of these reviewers have never actually played the game. I will stick to informative articles and interview with Christian. By the way and off topic, have you seen Tom Cruise in Collateral, great movie, best I've seen since Man On Fire. The game is already made..no changing it now. Thatd be like making a custom car then taking it apart to put a wire in then put it back together. Its not a arcade game to me. You have some tank type missions like that air field then you have stealth missions..just like in GR1, if you dont think im right go play vilinus mission then after that play the TANK map mission..then go play swamp mission. Just cause they change the camera point doesnt make it arcadey it even said you can change it back to regular GR1 view.
Iron Skillet
Thank you RR_GRT. People, please stop bashing the OTS view. FOR THE LOVE OF GOD YOU CAN CHANGE IT! Damn, you can change it whenever you want. i always thought they should have made GR a OTS game. so i cant even wait to play it. on the pc of course. ruggbutt
I'd love to still be playing GR. But then I'd have to un map my prone key, cuz I don't wanna be construed as glitching. I'd have to un map my left peek key, cuz god forbid I left peek a corner while standing too close. Actually I'd have to un map my left and right peek keys, cuz if you accidently hit them together you tiptoe, which is a form of cheating....... Ok, I'm being quite sarcastic but I'm hoping that the m/p aspect of GR2 is as good as the original. One thing is for sure, they need to have a demo to play cuz I won't be buying any more UBI products until I get some hands on time. They got me good w/RvS, they aren't gonna get me again!!! Kurtz
LOL Yeah, the RVS demo did it for me, but, I lost all interest in R6 after Rogue Spear.

I still play GR, but I feel so much pain with 'glitching'. Sure the game does have legitimate Glitching areas, but there are so many times where people just cry Glitcher because they did not kill someone prone. It seems like I find new legitimate glitches about every two weeks, it is such a shame that a patch cannot be made to get rid of those areas. GRT
Its hard to get rid of them because that was how the game was made..3 years ago. why waste time patching up gr1 when gr2 is coming out and will have no glitch problems.
