Atoa Posted January 31, 2010 Share Posted January 31, 2010 (edited) Greetings, 2 Days ago the UK MoD VBS2 Team gave the green light to distibuite VBS2 LITE JCOVE to the masses Since you are here you know what VBS2 is but what's the difference between the regular VBS2 and VBS2 LITE JCOVE? 1. VBS2 JCOVE is free, the UK Army recruiters are giving this away to potencial recruits just like Americas Army in the US. 2. British units and equipment 3. You can't add any BIS or user content to the game 4. No dedicated servers (The manual says that you can join by IP but I haven't tried yet) 5. The game have only 2 maps (1 big map that looks like IRAQ and a second Medium map) The game/sim come's with 5 SP missions and maybe 10 LAN/WAN missions, the editor is in there so you can do your own missions and play with your friends. So how can I get the game? Hammer Posted January 31, 2010 Share Posted January 31, 2010 (edited) This looks great DLing now Its about time we had a UK forces based game Or iwould DL it is if icould find somewere to DL it from that didnt want mony !! seem the only site that has it want you to use there £6 a month primeum service !! they will only let you DL 150mb every few hours on the free service and as the game is 2.5GB its gonna take a while, and i cant find any working torrents for it!! It is available for free from Armed Forces Careers Offices around the UK, as well as available to download publically from here soon. May be worth registering there, download links cannot be seen otherwise. Atoa Posted January 31, 2010 Author Share Posted January 31, 2010 (edited) Hammer, The Filefactory is free but just like Rapidshare if you press the wrong link they charge you but again is free, also they have wait lines in that site so if the slots are busy they put you in a wait line, the game is 8 files so is going to take awhile to download the full set. Are you confortable with torrents? I'm asking because that's why the user uploaded to that site because alot of people don't like torrents, got mine using a torrent and tooke me 16 hrs but I have a lousy connection (dsl 1 meg). The game is just your typical Bohemia International game and is running on a Arma 1 engine and CO-OP mode is avaliable, up to 8 players can play the game in CO-OP mode. Most of the FULL VBS2 features are in there like the FLIR, PEQ, UAV, Airborne drops etc but like I said in my post above only British Soldiers, Armor, Vehicles, Helicopters and Aircraft plus generic OPFORCE (Russians) and Taliban Insurgents. Tinker Posted February 3, 2010 Share Posted February 3, 2010 Well tbh, I am just going off the instructions posted @ JCOVE-Lite.co.uk It stated first convert to iso file, then burn to disc, or mount to virtual drive. I do not use any ISO/Disc burning software, so not too sure how to go about it otherwise. krise madsen Posted February 3, 2010 Share Posted February 3, 2010 (edited) Mounting the .nrg file directly with DAEMON Tools (without converting to ISO) works just fine: 1: Download and install DAEMON Tools Lite 2: Left-click the DAEMON icon in your system tray (lower right corner. 3: Click on "Device X:" (when mounting your first image this will be "Device 0"), and a new window opens. 4: In the new window, make sure to select to view "all files". 5: Navigate to where you saved the .nrg image, select and click "Open". 6: You will now get an installation prompt as if you just popped the JCOVE disc in the drive. 7: Install and play the game. As long as the image is mounted in DAEMON, you can run the game like any other (via start menu or desktop shortcut). Only have GR1 and OFP:GR installed, MS security essentials also. Nothing else should be of a concern. Apart from the fact that the game brings my laptop to it's knees (so I can't really play it), it also reminds me why I never really got into OFP. Love it or leave it, it's BIS Classic clunkyness. If you register on the website there are download and torrent links to the game. JCOVE is basically VBS2 tailored to UK MoD requirements. This is the Lite version which is being distriuted as a promotional tool, much like Americas Army. The fact that it was designed as a training tool is quite evident: It has only two maps (a small UK training area map and a somewhat larger Iraq map), tons of UK kit and more scarce OPFOR gear, and emphasis on IED's.
