I realize this topic is almost a month old, but I felt compelled to respond. I could not even begin to count the number of people I know who are former or current military. I have spent my entire life around it. It's like anything - some people are cool, others aren't. Being in the military or holding a specific job in the military or civilian world doesn't change that. I have noticed, however, people tend to remember the jerks in life more than the nice people, especially when you're talking about some professions - cops, for instance. People seem to talk a lot more about the one who was rude when he pulled them over than about the one who went out of his way to help them change a flat tire on the interstate. Personally, I've known a lot of guard soldiers, male and female. I've worked with a lot of them, too. Some of them are amongst the most professionally competent, downright great people I've ever known. Some aren't - just like active duty military personnel I've known from all branches. I've seen some young guardsmen willingly put themselves between a friend of mine and a threat, without second thought, because it was their job - and not come home as a result. I've personally had a team of them come help me out in a tight spot, for which I'm very grateful. Have also known some who were not the sharpest knives in the drawer. On a related note, throughout my life, some people I've known and worked with who were incredible at their jobs I just did not like as people and could never be friends with, yet I respected them. Others who were great friends were not people I could count on when it came to doing their jobs. A rare few were both capable at work and good friends or people I respected at least. That has held true during my time in the military and civilian worlds, both. Bottom line, I don't think you can lump anybody into any categories, regardless of race, color, religiion, national origin, profession, military branch, etc. People are people, regardless of what they do, where they come from, or what they look like. To the OP - three people is not a large sample size for judging a population as large as the national guard.

I don't even know you and don't think I've even read any of your posts, but if my old friend the big guy is ready to have a poll...I probably shouldn't finish my thought.

Pardon me.... I'm kind of, maybe, possibly considering getting this game when it comes out. I really honestly can't remember the last time I played a PC game. Certainly several computers ago. This is very embarassing because I *used* to be a computer guy. I almost completely got away from the computer at all so i have really lost touch with current state of hardware. I actually use my phone for 99% of my Internet use these days, what little there is. I do have an inexpensive desktop I bought a few months ago just for that 1% of time I need something other than my phone to get online. I'm sure I could research this myself, but thought I might get an answer here if I asked, so here's my question.... Does my current desktop setup meet the minimum system requirements for GR:FS? If it does, how bad is my performance/gameplay experience likely to be if I'm at the low end of the spectrum on system requirements? I'm definitely not getting a new computer - not an option. If mine just isn't going to cut it, I'll save some time and get the PS3 version. And so sure you had it in the bag because you tracked down where I saved the images on the server. Too bad that was only part of it. How did that work again? Find Rocky? Wha.... I cut up a picture of Rocky the squirrel and placed the pieces in random posts throughout the forums. First non-staff member to find them won a special badge for under their name.

I know, it's like yesterday we were trying to make that old header image look good. hey, I tried my best. For a placeholder, that first banner wasn't that bad. You definitely improved on it, though. I also remember when you scooped everybody on what the name of the next Red Storm game was going to be...and I thought it sounded stupid. Little did I know the game would be so cool. I don't know about subsequent versions, but the first GR was great--just want we wanted/needed after R6/RS. I miss R6/RS and all of our AGR-S games, though. I haven't had that much fun in...over ten years. While GR was fun in mp, it still wasn't the same as doing Killhouse with the old gang.

I think the bigger issue is what zjj pointed out - it's been done before and nobody really used it. you can practically have conversations in real time in a thread in the forums, as it is. one advantage that has over chat is it is persistent, so others can drop in and join the discussion hours, days, weeks, or months later, without having to be online at the same time as you. just a guess about why it wasn't used much before.

facebook is the devil. i won';t go near it, either.
