Lots of work this will be, possibly more than in Cloak-and-Dagger. Even though I'm currently working with less content (2 smaller mods compared to HU), the big difference here is that there isn't a lot of infrastructure to use. In the case of Cloak-and-Dagger, it was mostly editing existing files.
Here? Just for weapons, here is that I have to do given my current goals:
Edit the existing weapons (which will be saved as completely new files to preserve the originals as much as possible for "legacy" options in MP) to adjust handling and change sounds
Set up said weapon sounds (most of this is already done, but suppressed weapons could use some improvements)
Make completely new kit files to make things more well rounded (more work than simply tweaking ammo values)
Make new kit icons... not looking forward to this (will need to collect each weapon and setup a base file, then save every single combination that I wish to use)
When done with kits, will copy them over to a MP folder to create the MP kits. Then I actually need to go and put them into kit restriction files... welp.
Focus for now will be setting up SP, then working on MP once that's mostly done.
EDIT: here's what most of the weapon list looks like, this is mostly to give me an idea of what's already there to work with and could use some reorganizing
Want to say thanks again for taking the time to create the the Legacy add-on and going the extra mile and including a bunch of small add-ons for players to customize the game how they want.
Not that I dislike HU 1.0 and the amazing additions but I feel more at home using the Legacy add-on. Part of GR's appeal to me has been the original music, the look and feel of the interface, and of course the pre 9/11 military equipment. in the past I have tried creating my own "Legacy" mod but never got to the standard of HU. Legacy is everything I've ever wanted in a GR mod.
I'm just very happy to hear that you're fine, and that nothing unfortunate occurred.
Real Life can be a mega butt-kicker. I should know, as I'm currently crushed with work and Real Life concerns as well. Let's hope that Life soon gives us a well deserved and looooooooooong break!
If Life ever gives you a break, and you're so inclined, I would love to see you return to STALKER, Call of Chernobyl. Those mutants you converted were/remain a major boon to the entire community.
Before I go, I strongly advise you to try out RadioPhobia 2 for STALKER Shadow of Chernobyl. The graphics are just stunning. STUNNING! Gameplay is BRUTAL. I've never been shot in real life, but I'd imagine that if I were, it'd look as awful and terrible as I see it in Radiophobia 2. Very, VERY immersive. The AI is cunning as well. Gun, and RUN.
Okay bud. I wish you All The Best.
