Steam Version Crash on Launch

Hi

Can't find my old disks, so bought this game and the Desert / Island packs.

Just installed onto my Windows 8.1 PC, and tried to launch and get the following crash:

A dialog box pops up with a red / white cross:

 

"Ghost Recon GhostRecon.exe - Entry Point Not Found"

"The procedure entry point MiniDumpWriteDump could not be located

in the dynamic link library C:\Windws\SYSTEM32\dlumd9.dll."

 

I click OK, and it pops up again, so I click OK again and then I get another box saying:

 

"ghostrecon.exe"

"ghostrecon.exe has stopped working"

"A problem caused the program to stop working

correctly. Please close the program."

 

So I've googled and seen mention of a missing (it was missing) Options.xml. Whereby I have to download on and change the fullscreen to false. Done that - didn't work.

 

I see people playing this on Windows 8/10 so please can someone advise where I'm going wrong?

did you try launching the game in compatibility mode?

Right click the exe and select properties.

Select the compatibility for windows 7.
