M04 Black Needle Command Map crash

Recommended Posts

I am having problems with a CTD when using the command map on Black Needle. Every time I place my cursor over the village, Ghost Recon crashes. This also happened on MO3, though I am unsure of where that happened.

Additional information: I'm running the Heroes Unleashed mod, so that may be a contributing factor.

My guess would be the mod your using but you can post the Ike log (Not the Ike Crash log) and we might be able to figure out what the problem is.

Had an experience like this once. In the .atr files some of the Allied AI actors did not have a name in the .atr file.

Should look something like this <ActorName>a Peacekeeper</ActorName>

If it is like this <ActorName/> GR will CTD when the CM is open and the cursor is passed over that actors position.

IIRC M03 and M04 both have Allied peacekeepers in the mission.

A possibility at least.

EDIT

Had a look in my HU/ actor folder. VERSION "1.0.0b8"

I searched for peacekeeper in that folder and it showed 4 results.

All were un-named like this:

<ActorName></ActorName>

These can be edited with notepad to be given a name.

Like so:

<ActorName>a Peacekeeper</ActorName>

Did not work.

I'm not too sure on MO3 because it seemed to have crashed regardless of whether I moved the mouse cursor over Georgian HQ, though it did happen when I ordered my fireteam to move to the eastern side of the map near the HQ so I probably did hover over that position.

Found six other instances of UN Peacekeepers however and they mitigated the problem. Unfortunately they do not work with a save game but HU isn't really meant for that so...

OK. Peacekeeper is mis-spelled in the file name which threw my search off when using "peace" as the search term.

I opened the M03 and M04 .mis file with notepad and found the below Allied actors being used in the missions.

Allied actors M03:

un_peackeeper_1ver.atr

un_peackeeper_2ver.atr

un_peackeeper_3ver.atr

un_peackeeper_4ver.atr

un_peackeeper_5ver.atr

un_peackeeper_6ver.atr

Allied actors M04:

un_peackeeper_1ver.atr

un_peackeeper_2ver.atr

replace <ActorName></ActorName>

with <ActorName>a Peacekeeper</ActorName>

in the above .atr's in the HU/ Actor folder

All in all there are 10 variations for a peacekeeper .atr

I hope you're aware that I already fixed the problem before you posted it. :)

By the way, has Apex been notified of this so he can fix it in b9?

I'm guessing he has not. Glad you figured it out.

Couldn't have done it without you, thanks. I better bother Apex about it.

Wait, this is in beta 8? I'll need to take a look at this, never noticed any issues with the command map on Black Needle.

Have to check out those typos, too.

Thanks for bringing it up, nyleken!

Happens with Zebra Straw as well. I'm sure it's because of the American NPCs in that level.

Had a look at this and am still a bit confused about potential reasons. Anyhow, the upcoming beta 9 of Heroes Unleashed shouldn't have this problem anymore. :)
