I think that's the new WWII memorial which is right next to the Washington Monument. Are you going to DC for the March To Keep Fear Alive?

No wonder the roommates went from $95 to $119-$189!

Unfortunately no I'm not going for that event.

Plus this is going to be shi'ite trip for me since the frookin MIL is dragging her old ass with us.

Anyone who lives or has taken pics around Washington DC?

Looking for any tips (with my limited gear) to make the most of our trip. We will be taking the 48hrs Hop-On-Hop-Off Double Decker to survey first, then stroll to various spots. I read it gets pretty crowded too.

Best times, best spots, angles, settings, anything to preserve it in pictures will be appreciated. If you got some pics you wanna share, would love to see it.

My gear...stop snickering :nono:

Nikon D3000 ...that's 3 zeros

18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G AF-S DX VR

55-200mm f/4-5.6G ED IF AF-S DX VR

35mm f/1.8G AF-S DX

still debating on dragging my cheap0 tripod

Canon SD750 + Gorillapod

Bad news, parking and getting around DC is a headache commercial. Parking signs contradict each other.

So we took the Metro from our hotel to downtown Union Station then to our 2-day Double Decker Bus.

We didn't stray much bcoz our feet would ache so much, we would pass out every time we get back to our room.

Needless to say, my night time pics are limited.

Fortunately, The Iwo Jima Memorial was 6 minutes away from us, Rosslyn neighborhood.

I got 1758 pics, these are just my choice pics so far.

there's more but 14-15 hrs drive is making me loopy, I just might post the wrong pictures

Sorry I missed this thread last week Ray. :-/

Looks like you decided to use the tripod. Wise choice. I hope you looked through my FB albums for some ideas from when I lived in DC. Hope it was a good trip!

hey Ruin, what's up with DC folks, everyone was running! Even at 9pm people were still running....could it be the US Marine Corp Marathon on 10/31st?

back to pix

last Magnolia Flower found at John Kennedy's Memorial site, facing the Monument .... someone else might post this picture because, while everyone was taking pics of the Memorial, I was facing the opposite way, facing this Magnolia Tree. A possible Pro-Photographer with a Canon DSLR saw me and took the same angle pic after I left.

Anyhoo .... this is untouched for now, just want to share it before it pops up somewhere else
