Ghost Recon: Heroes Unleashed

Recommended Posts

it took me thru the 4th mission to realized you've added more weapons... ;) ....so much for reading the ReadMe file...thanks for this awesome mod

Thank you, Corporal! And may I suggest you give the ReadMe a chance, after all? If you missed out on the weapons, I am sure there is more for you to discover!

btw, its been awhile...it is safe to delete anything with IKE in my GR folder? this way I can tell if there are new IKE reported?

thanks

Both the IKE.LOG and IKECRASH.LOG are safe to delete, although it is unnecessary, as they are recreated from scratch every time they are used by the application - IKE.LOG on every launch of GR and IKECRASH.LOG only when the application exits abnormally (crashes).

But do not(!) delete the IKE.SDF file! That is a scripting definitions file required by IGOR (read by ScriptEd.dll).

I am grabbing this right now. Can't wait to try it out and maybe play with you guys sometime next week.

Welcome to the party, WhiteKnight77!

Nice to see someone properly renamed the "A-91" to 9A-91.

The A-91 is a completely different weapon then what is presented in stock GR.

Man allot of great weapons. The only complaint is it takes forever to scroll through all of them in SP  which I suppose is the only option as there are no kit restrictions for SP as you have supplied for MP?

That aside the reticules and model textures are fantastic. I always thought the Groza and Bizon were the ugliest weapons in GR. You have improved them by leaps and bounds.

The AI backup is allot more help then stock GR. I had one friendly AI taking out tangos at a distance with his pistol. :D I hadn't seen that before.

Thanks again for the huge upgrade to the stock game.

One little cool feature request: an executable similar to what WOI loader does... A little batch file that reads the kit restriction files and copies the kit files specified in a chosen kit restriction file... Would be a cool little upgrade. Or just some batch files that do something similar. It should be relatively easy to do this with batch files while making a loader would be reasonably more difficult.

Thanks a lot for your positive feedback, wombat50! It's great to see someone noticing the smaller details, too!

To provide an elegant solution with complete feature equality and full cross-platform compatibility for several operating systems and their generations (Mac OS 9/Mac OS X, Windows 9X/ME/2000/XP/Vista), I would like this to be a bit more than a batch file. I have not made up my mind about this yet, but I am working on a solution for the full release. ;)

[...] thinking of everything.

Well, it's not that I miraculously think of everything - it's just that I am bothered by the same things as other people. :)

Originally, I had even more weapons integrated in the mod, but I took them back out because the selection was just too overwhelming. That is why I had this issue on my (seemingly endless!) to-do list. ;)

I'm downloading now to see what all the hoopla is about.

I hate playing SP. Is anyone hosting a co op server at the moment? I've got the rest of the weekend off and now that my belly is full and the holiday is over it's time for me to goof off. :o=

Just ran through a couple of things in SP so far. No crashes or bugs encountered for me. Everything runs smooth as silk including the downtown map.

It looks like I have to go and find TS and get that running now.

Great to hear that, OSO!

It would be nice if you later found the time to report on your Co-op experience, too!

Well I'm still waiting on my registration to go through so I can join that server...

For the more "casual" gamers out there, I have set up a little dedicated Ghost Recon: Heroes Unleashed server on GameRanger (cross-platform for Mac and PC). For starters, it is running 9-slot CO-OP in "firefight" mode on random maps.

No TeamSpeak or anything fancy required, just join in and have some fun!

I am currently hosting from my laptop while on the road, but bandwidth should be sufficient for up to 9 players. The server is on dynamic IP, so it may go offline for a few minutes once in a while (usually every 24 hours).

If there are any problems, please let me know (it's been a while since I hosted at GameRanger)! :)

As a hard-core GR fan since the release of the first game, I have for years been amazed by the fan and mod community for this series. The dedication, skill and ingenuity of modders has extended the value and depth of the original games tenfold, and the community has been a jewel of the internets in its maturity, helpfulness and intelligent discussion of the games we love. Thanks to the ApexMods team and all the GR modders for continuing this proud tradition so many years on. Screw crosscomms and UAVs, I'm too busy continuing to have my mind blown by brilliant permutations of classic GR.

The old school is golden.

Thank you, DonMiguel! It is both my pleasure and honor!

For over six years I have been working on Heroes Unleashed, and during all that time many of my friends kept asking me "Why are you doing this?!? What's in it for you?!?" when I was sitting there in front of my computer, working on the mod for a large part of my spare time, and I could not always find the right words to express my motivation.

And then I read a post like yours, mob, and it sums it up just perfectly! Thank you! :)

The old school is golden.

You got a friend in me, bro!

VonStrahd, I assume you also posted twice about this at HeroesUnleashed.net and I already answered you there. By now there have been over 2,000 downloads of the mod and luckily so far no serious issues remained unresolved, so it is very likely that the problem lies on your side.

You also wasted quite a bit of space here by quoting your post within itself, which makes it unnecessarily difficult to read, and I have to admit that I am quite disappointed by your total disregard for the conversation that currently takes place in this thread.

Anyhow, as you can see in your IKE.LOG, none(!) of the texture files required get loaded by the game, so there has got to be a serious issue with your installation or setup. Please read and follow the included installation instructions carefully, and I am sure it will solve any problems you encountered.

ok sorry about the post thing........did'nt mean for it to turn out that way....and had been reading here about the mod and not at Heroesunleashed

i would assume a re-installation of all of it would be a good idea?

thanks for the help......looking at logs ike and such .......i don't really understand any of it.

OK, no problem - sorry if I snapped a bit. ;)

It should not be necessary to reinstall everything. Maybe it is just a matter of mod priorities?

First of all a big "Thank You" for bringing this mod to our community.

There is far too much candy for just one Christmas ;-))

I ran into a problem and asked a friend if he could reproduce it, which he could.

Mission "Deja Vu" in grid E8 is a flight of stairs.

When I got to the top and moved forward, the floor disappeared.

I could pull back move down and continue. My friend said he had a similar problem in grid H13.

After a short break I wanted to resume the mission to check out H13 but the screen started up with the message "All soldiers have been lost".

This is what the ike.log says:

Loading map c:\program files\red storm entertainment\ghost recon\mods\heroes unleashed\map\ig01_downtown_mog\ig01_downtown_mog.map

SimHuman: _Opposing Human9[ AI_13 (13) ]: Could not find my room for location <-89.2744, -30.2545, 6.75>

It's a problem of the specific map and not of Heroes Unleashed. That map is very buggy and honestly I was surprised when it was included. I recommend to remove it from the final release.
