Rocky
Well, here's my competition entry (posted in official thread too) - what I did today, reminisced a little about past missions. It was about 1am when I typed it up so I missed stacks of stuff - would be good to do this properly without the deadline. It started late in 2001 (real world time heh), that was when I first led the Ghost's - although at that time I sometimes wondered who was leading who, as these guys knew how to handle themselves - if only our more recent recruits showed the same common sense under fire! Anyway, that was a heck of a mission - capture some guy called Papashvili. Found him hanging about in some caves, we soon had him under control though. It was on the very next mission that we first got out hands on the OICW, what fun we had with that baby. IfI remember correctly that was out first night sortie too - recovering a downed pilot. Those were the first of hundreds of missions, but the first 15 eventually led us to moscow - that was cold - too cold. After that we headed for a warmer climate - desert missions mostly - starting with a beach landing. That was fun, fighting our way up the slopes and then trying to take the radio tower. I think it was after that mission things got a bit more civil around the area - probably something to do with our new addition - Lindy Cohen. Her first mission with us was to rescue a group of workers in a refinary - some nasty CQB in there. We did 6 more missions in desert camo before heading of for some Island fun. The first mission was on a plantation, man those farmers knew how to shoot though. That campaign ended up in a hilly area, where we had to find Priego, that was a heck of a mission. If I count right, that was 31 missions we were sent on back in the day - officially. After that we took on a shed load of unofficial missions. There was rumour of uncle sam getting back to us with another official call up in April 2005, but it was pulled at the last minute. The guys were not amused. Luckily for us, word was out and we had work offers coming out of our boots. We went to all sorts of places, we were even sending postcards from peru at one point - although those missions were no holiday. Then it was the opposite extreme, some of the guys even got Frostbite. We were even getting supplied with custom gear, and weapons - it was hard to keep up with it all. In mid 2005 there was word of a whole new era for Ghost Recon, we got pumped about that, we stayed cool though, sat back and had some cola, Classic GR cola, we all Grin'd about that - especially when we heard "Warfighter" being banded about. In Aug 2005 we went for some Special Detatchment duties, that was one of many co-operative ventures we undertook, they were BAD sometimes, but always stealty, Stealth Recon, that's what we called some of them. We met a tonne of guys on those missions, great days - but No Easy Days. Early in 2006 we kept waiting for a new batch of missions orders to come in, Advanced Warfighter missions, as usual there were delays, but eventually we were back in action. New places to go, new people to uhm, meet. That was a couple of years ago now, I remember when we started getting all the new gear, some of the guys were going all hardcore on us and ripping off all the new tech the boffins had come up with - cross comm my a**. It had it's uses though, saved my bacon a few times. Mid 2007 another batch of AW missions came down from command, more of the same - easy pickings for us now. After we cleaned those up a lot of the guys went back to take on some older, outstanding contracts, and then before we knew it we were getting more custom contractor work. There's a whole group of guys away right now on a specialist sniper campaign right now. That's what's great about the Ghosts, the custom jobs just keep coming in, and every one is better than the last.
NoQuarter
Submit your most creative “what I did today†story to...Can't we mail it in, here? Might get more traffic/responses if unofficial means are available. AAR The Team successfully completed all objectives with judicious use of binoculars, without detection-in accordance with standing ROE, and was able to accomplish this while never leaving the mission area once, or taking a personal call from POTUS. All in all, a good day.

dporter
Excellent!! I won something. I will admit though that I was a little unclear about wether it had to be actual or even GR related. It said to be creative and imaginative so I was. Was great to celebrate the insertion of the ghost though
