Sound Blaster XFI - Music for decent price

Recommended Posts

Hey Guys,

I know this might not be the right spot to post this but I value your opinion and you are the guys that play the game. FutureShop has this card on sale for $109.

Currently, I have an ASUS A8N-SLI Deluxe on-board sound using Realtek ALC850, 8-channel CODEC.

For $109 +tax and using primarly just stero headphones .. is it worth the cost?

I was going to buy the Audio FX headphones from woot .. but of course they do not ship to Canada...

P.S. Sale ends today .. so please, please respond...

Thanks

Buy at your own risk, drivers are very buggy (Popping/Crackling) and have been since release.

Link Here this is just one of the threads about the bugs (Popping/Crackling).

When the card is working right the sound is great.

I have one and yes, it's worth it. You can tell the diff most on your lower-quality MP3 tunes.

But if you have cheap speakers, don't bother to upgrade.

Thanks Guys/Gals?? for your replies. I went ahead an bought it. I figure, if I get the crackling and popping I will bring it back.

The card had $16 off initial price and then a $44 mail in rebate.

I will install it tonight and see how it goes... once again Thanks for the input..

WOO HOO ... this think is excellent.. it took a little playing to fix the mic.. I could here myself breathing all the time.. but no crackling or popping.. mind you it took almost a whole night to get use to the new sounds.. playing GRAW on Extreme sound setting is awesome..

Thanks for your thoughts...

 glad we helped

make sure you turn on the crystalizer.

Under Speaker settings turn SVM on too helps balance lows and highs makes playback sound lots better.
