Some notes about the upcoming patch (1.10)

Recommended Posts

As you've no doubt noticed from our forum presence over the last few weeks, the Grin team has returned from Mexico and adjusted to reality once again. The time has been well spent working on a stability patch, 1.10, which is due for release this week. The patch is currently undergoing final testing. Please note, as the topic description says, that this is not the "june patch".

As you'll see, we've addressed many of the issues reported by the community, and many more. You'll see the release notes once the patch comes out, but these are some of the highlights:

  • ALL key configurations will be overwritten. If you've bound your keys different than default, you must do it again. This is to open for the two new keybinding functions we've introduced. These are remapping the mousewheel to different buttons(CrossCom), and a new key "u" to toggle chat on and off in multiplayer.

  • Multiplayer has recieved stability updates and fixes. We've found and fixed a number of issues that could cause disconnects, worse performance over time, and some crashes.

  • You can no longer be a "ghost" in multiplayer, throwing grenades to fake "fatal accidents".

  • You no longer have to press "Enter" to confirm input in the multiplayer interface.

That's a few starters for you, the rest will be available when the patch comes out. We hope you'll enjoy it.

Well what can one say 'cept excellent. First the hotfix, now a previously unannonced bug-patch, and still having the June-patch in the tube on top of that.

I trust GRAW got a long online future, and that very trust is a function of GRIN's dedication.

This "June patch" is becoming a legend, a gift from the gods, a prophecy that has yet to be fulfilled... it's almost scary.

One Patch to rule them all

One Patch to find them

One Patch to bring them all

and in the darkness bind them

I love you

I think that speaks for most of us, especially the ones that play MP!

These patches also i think will help restore confidence in those who felt let down with previous games.

Thanks for the patch and getting it announced before it's even released!

Just wondering, will the crash to desktop issue be fixed? The common(ish) random one which leaves the desktop set to sub-VGA resolution and 4-bit colour depth?

Just curious as that's the only problem I have with the game, other than that it's excellent, but it is quite a big issue :(

Indeed, "Darkness Binding" could be having the weapon switch tied to the mouse wheel with no other options.

Ops, not the right time for that kind of puns.
