stormcrow
I was toying with going with a 939 socket Asus Mobo, the AV8 to precise and a AMD 64 bit 939. Do you guys reckon there is any major difference or advantage when it comes to the various 64 bit socket types....?
Crimson
Yes, and socket 939 is best for varying reasons. One of nice points about 939 over 754 and 940 is that you have the option of dual channel operation.
firefly2442
What's dual channel operation?

WhiteKnight77
The 939 sockets will be around longer. The 754 line is gonna be for the Sempron line that has become AMDs budget line over the long haul. 940s are being phased out. IIRC they required the use of registered RAM (and it is slower) that is more expensive.
snakebite1967
939 is your best long term option IMHO Nforce 3 or 4 with dual channel ram slots, cheaper alternative is ofcourse 754 but limited on what cpu's u can use
