  1. It is watermarked and time-restricted to 30 seconds. Sound works, though.
  2. Janie42 - I am so sorry to have forgotten to mention you for so long! Armenia SCARed P2: A Cold Day in Hell ...
  3. I absolutely agree. The superb quality of Ghost Recon's AI (if tuned correctly) is completely unparalleled to this day, and the floating crosshairs - while aesthetically unpleasant - really provide an amazingly simple yet effective feedback on weapon handling and control. Oh yes, longer 'sneaky-sneaky' missions is what I want, too - and much larger maps are an absolutely essential feature for a new Ghost Recon, which would also open the doors to proper windage/bullet drop simulation and other essential ballistics properties. An expansion of vehicle deployment options would of course be
  4. I'm looking for a free - preferably open source and multi-platform (Mac/PC) - solution to capture in-game movies (a/v) without any stupid time limits (just 30 seconds with FRAPS?!? ######?!?). I know there's a commercial solution called Snapz Pro X for Mac which allows a free trial period of 15 days without feature restrictions - not really optimal due to the short trial period, but at least it seems to let you do proper capturing. Any suggestions? BTW - Xfire is not an option for me (please don't ask - it's a long story).

  6. Very well put. Exactly the words I was looking for! Please don't get me wrong, I'm all for bigger maps (more freedom) and wouldn't mind some extra vehicles (would prefer them non-playable, though). This is something that I really don't get! Why the 'gagging' and desperation?!? Ghost Recon is just as good today as it was years ago - actually better, with all the mods available now. And if you have a look at Xfire's rankings for shooters (you have to click the 'Rank' tab to sort by ranking), you will notice that good old Ghost Recon still holds its own quite well even today,

  8. Ok, I don't know if anyone here has ever heard of - let alone read - Professor Žižek, but the Q&A is excellent and just made me laugh-spit my coffee all over the display. Here's the link for anyone interested.
  9. So I - and I think everyone else - noticed. I gave ArmA2 another spin - wrote about it in this thread (so many of your ArmA2 plugs to choose from), forgotten to get into the whole AI thing though, and I don't want to analyze it in too much detail here, but in my limited experience ArmA2's AI has not really surprised me in a positive way. Enemies would actually (quite calmly) walk up to me under fire (btw - they wouldn't drop from repeatedly being hit by machine gun fire) and do all other kinds of funny things, like running away from me in a straight line while being in full view, basi
  10. Maybe you could change your sig to a slightly less negative tone, then? It is of course your own choice, but if you look back at the years and years of fun Ghost Recon and this community have given you, don't you think a more respectful approach would be a little more appropriate? I gather from your recent posts around here that you may have moved on to ArmA2 and lost interest in Ghost Recon. It saddens me to see that happening to you, but it saddens me even more that your new found enthusiasm for ArmA2 seems to result in antagonism towards Ghost Recon - the game this web site is named af
  11. Seconded! Gave Arma2 a try some time ago and while the visuals are very nice and the overall concept is extremely appealing (realism/freedom) IIRC I was first of all put off by the controls which still felt slightly awkward to me (although better than its predecessors) and less-than-stellar enemy AI, but I tested an early version and want to give it another shot once I find the time. Then there are all the vehicles and aircrafts which some people may see as a good thing, but I consider them a bit of a nuisance as their sheer numbers tend to spoil the infantry simulation for me. I prefer
  12. Very funny! With the little spare time I currently have, all I play is Ghost Recon, if I find the time to play at all. I'm still only half way through the P2 campaign. Compete? What could possibly compete with Ghost Recon?!?
  13. Excellent news!!! Wow, all the great new mods for good old Ghost Recon recently - H-Hour's Airport, DYNACOMP, P2: A Cold Day in Hell, Tinker's never-ending stream of mission packs, etc. and now Blood Oil on the horizon - how are we supposed to find the time to play all this? But I am certainly not complaining! Keep'em coming!
  14. Excellent find! Thanks a lot for sharing, Dick Splash! If only a certain game publisher would finally grasp that idea.
  15. Sorry about the bad info on CS3 compatibility. I thought there were some issues when I tried the RSB plugin in CS3, but it's a been a long time and I stuck with CS2 and Win XP on my GR modding system ever since. Hope you can sort out the Windows 7 issues.
  16. The .RSB plugin from IT is the latest one, but I think it only works up to CS2.
  17. Absolutely love Ghost Recon's AI! Looooovvve it! I probably played every shooter out there - nothing else even comes close. Except maybe GR's sibling Rainbow Six up to Raven Shield/Athena Sword - everything after that suffered the fate of GR's 'sequels' AW/AW2: The same dumb ###### wrapped in eye candy they feed the two-thumbs-controller-console kids in all the other 'modern' shooters nowadays. For me, a constant reminder of Ghost Recon's superior AI is the way it keeps surprising me in missions I scripted myself. You would think that if you know the innards of the mission script - heck
  18. A couple of weeks ago this guy Contaan has posted 13 episodes totaling about 2 hours of commented Ghost Recon gameplay videos on YouTube. He basically does a complete introduction to the game and explains Ghost Recon's ins and outs while playing through the missions. Highly recommended! Visit Contaan's YouTube channel to check it out or follow the links to each episode below: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HEAdw3r8mHM http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W_8vMZGwQGs http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JCVHw1RWGFY
  19. Lately I get more and more emails regarding this subject, so I here's a little summary with links to the most important applications to get you started in playing Ghost Recon online multiplayer on Mac. GameRanger GameRanger is a free Internet gaming service that makes it easy to play online with friends. It works through routers and firewalls and offers features like profiles, friends lists, instant messaging, in-game voice communication, and competitive ladders/rankings/ratings. iFire iFire is a free Mac client for the popular Internet gaming service Xfire. It allows you to chat wit
  20. Although the name may suggest otherwise, but ATITool actually works quite well with NVidia cards.
  21. Thank you. That's the spirit! bangurdead, this seems to go nowhere, and before the discussion turns into a platform war I'd rather just stop right here. Strange that some people actually seem to be against multi-platform game support.
  22. I think Everest does this. Will have to check my installation to make sure, though (currently re-installing). EDIT: BTW - have you OC'ed the 9800 at all? Yep, Everest works just fine. You need to enable sensor logging in preferences (CVS or HTML). Just remembered, a better (and free) solution is ATITool. This one will stress your GPU to the max for testing and can log temps, too.
  23. Thanks a lot for the feedback guys, this is very much appreciated! I actually share your opinion on the 7z archive and prefer its simple drag-n-drop install over an installer application myself, but some people who used the update patches have approached me and suggested to have the full mod install like that, too. On second thought you are absolutely right though - this should not be a top priority at this point. BTW - Gache, the Heroes Unleashed update patches that come as installer apps don't show a freeware reminder because I actually purchased licenses for both the Mac and PC ve
  24. That does not summarize my post at all. Here is the summary: At a price of $1000+ over 90% of the people buy a Mac. Period. We could endlessly go on and on discussing why people willing and able to spend a lot of money on a computer rather buy a Mac than a PC, but that's beside the point. They just do. And they probably have their good reasons.
