  1. I've never felt more welcome in a modding community than GR.Net, I was a pain in the ass when I was young (still am now, right Rocky? ) but you guys refused to give up on me. You put up with me all these years There have been so many occasions where I have been trolled, threatened, harassed in other communities. Particularly the Arma modding community which grows more and more toxic by the day. But coming back here is like coming back to a kind, caring family and just having a moment of peace and reminiscence. It's been consistently good despite what Ubi have done to the series.

  3. One of the things that keeps me going with this site is when I see how many sites have disappeared of the cliff during the last two decades this site has been online. I'll notice it when doing some housecleaning and dead links to external sites crop up. Whether it's massive websites like yahoo or google properties that have gone offline, or general gaming sites, or other Ghost Recon sites - gone! Most of the modder sites have all gone too - only a very very few are still online, remaining as an archive of that busy modder period many moons ago. I think it's important that at least o

  4. This place is an invaluable time capsule of gaming history, (con)serving information, discussions, ideas, and opinions from two decades of the tactical realism gaming genre and beyond. There is no other site anywhere on the internet that can offer a comparable treasure trove of content, spanning over such an extended timeline. GhostRecon.net is to tactical realism gaming sites what Ghost Recon is to tactical realism games. The undisputed immortal King. The One that rules them all. Long live GhostRecon.net!

  5. Our beloved Ghost Recon is almost twenty years old, yet there are still plenty of active servers out there, several new mods are currently under development, and the internet is filled with fresh praise for good old GR, as many (often young) newcomers discover the thrills of true tactical realism in this easily approachable package, which also happens to run great on pretty much any hardware, old and new alike. No wonder Ubisoft is still trying to milk the full sales price for the game and both of its official expansion packs from new Ghost Recon fans after two decades, as the shameful di

  6. It’s been a long time, so I’m not sure I’d read it before. In any case, I thank you very much for the link, Wombat. I ended up (re-?)reading all of their Ghost Recon dev team interviews. Quite insightful, and a nice flashback to better times.

  7. Those vids definitely peaked my interest in him. Searched "Ghost Recon Brian Upton" and found among other things this interview of him from 2001. It would not surprise me if you have read it already Apex. One thing that was interesting was this quote about the game Rogue Spear(1999),"The original plot line for Rogue Spear was about Osama bin Laden and we wound up changing it then because we thought it was too close to reality. 8. I'm with the ranking as Alex has them except leaving out GR2 as I never played it. After the debacle that was the cancellation of GR2 for PC I would not buy a Ubisoft game for years. I guess I got over it. Three of the four titles I bought in the last two years are published by Ubisoft.

  10. The big ideological tidal change that spelled doom for game quality was taking development decisions out of the hands of the creative intelligent people and handing them to the greedy primitive corporate bean counters, pencil pushers, and money mongers. Games used to be made for the people playing them, now they’re being made for the ones selling them. The whole idea of game development changed from „let‘s create something insanely great“ to „how can we trick the most fools into spending their money on the cheap-ass shovelware crap we churn out again and again“. That is why you

  11. See, the cheesy dialogue killed it for me on AW and AW2 - But everyone has their own opinions. The setting was really interesting but the whole start of 'make Mitchell the center of the universe' thing still bugs me to this day. He's the definition of a male Mary Sue Ghost Recon 1 + expansions would have been my first, followed by Ghost Recon 2, followed by Wildlands, GR:AW, GR:AW 2, then Future Soldier. I'm not placing breakpoint because I don't think it's fair to place a game I've not played.

  15. Hello everyone, It's been a while - how are you doing? I wanted to revive this thread a little. This mod is pretty old, I was younger and less experienced when I made it. I'm thinking of a remake, but I don't know when I'll be able to make it - but it'll definitely come one day, so stay tuned! Best regards and take care, Peter
